i think its gorgeous and very reasonably priced....i was there twice for my sorority formals, the one thing i was looking for in a rh was i was the only bride. Thats the only reason i didn't consider it, but otherwise its reallly nice

I went there when I was hunting for a hall and was not treated nicely at all. It was very busy and they tried taking someone ahead of us. It's a nice hall, but they didn't treat me well enough to get my money.

I just had my wedding there a month ago and it was amazing!!!! Everyone went above and beyond~my guests are still talking about the food and how beautiful the place and our room looked. We got a great price for everything too. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Leonard's was the last place we visited when looking for venues. It has really nice decor but one thing we didn't like is that for their food, they have a set menu for entrees (4 only), u can always choose something else but it would be a substantial price difference. We also wanted to have our ceremony in the venue and we didn't like their outside gardens or the inside 'chapel?'.

Beleive it or not out of the 8 places we saw, they have the lowest prices. We either want May or September so we got prices in all the places we went for those 2 months, and Leonard's quoted us $65 per person for either month. My FH and I were like 'how do they make any profit with those prices during season-months? We later figured out that the more weddings they have per day, the more money they'll get.

I went over there and really was not at all impressed.... For about 150-180 people they were going to put us in one of the rooms right when you walk in from the outside which has absolutely no windows and poor lighting and honestly made me feel claustrophobic. The entire place is marble and did not have a wooden dance floor--- don't know why, but that is something that I want when I am looking at places- I feel like the marble would cause people in high heels to be slipping all over the place. I also asked them to show me the outside where I would be taking pictures and again, more marble with minimal landscaping.... this may not mean anything to you if you are going somewhere else for pictures but for me I will be going straight from my church to the reception hall and I want to make sure that there are enough photo opportunities available.... But besides that, the pricing was VERY VERY VERY reasonable - they quoted me at $85 per plate on a Sunday night in September with the additional Seafood option of Lobster & Shrimp included, so if I wasn't getting that I think it would have been around $75-80.... Hope that helps!

I used to work at Chateau La Mer - AND the Garden City Hotel. I'm SURE that I could have had dirt cheap prices at both- although I only went to the GC Hotel. The hotel DID quote me an amazing price- cutting more than half of what is normal off of their quote for me.

Having said all of that... AND having been in the business for a large part of my life-
I went with Leonard's. Everyone will try to sell you a 'Dream' your fantasy, the most IMPORTANT day of your life. How amazing could that one day be if you go into debt because of it, start fighting with your FH and after the wedding have no money?

Leonard's is beautiful, the food is amazing and it's perfect decor for my HUGE Italian family. Plus paying less for exactly what you'll get almost anywhere else is a HUGE bonus.

Leonard's also did hook us up a bit- knowing that I was in the biz- and knowing some of the people I know- so that ultimately made my decision. I could be completely poor forever and have my wedding at the GC Hotel... or I could save money for our future honeymoon babies and still marry the man of my dreams in a beautiful place??? It was simple for me!

I am having my ceremony there and my reception with booze and cake included.... and ALL of that plus THREE vendors doesn't add up to what I was quoted for JUST the rooms at other venues.

I know it's a special day ladies... but what matters is you're marrying the man you love most!!! Try to keep that in mind- before you let the bridezilla in you break the bank!

Sending love to all of you-
D

Re: Any opinions on Leonards of great neck for the reception hall?

Don't get scared anyone- this can happen anywhere.
I used to work at The Breakers of Palm Beach- where all the weddings were celebrity. (Look them up!)

They gave an entire party food poisoning once due to a batch of bad raspberries.

This is a multi-BILLION dollar establishment where on the rich and famous can party- and it happened there.

So it CAN and does happen anywhere.

If bad food is brought in- there's no way to tell- especially on fruits and veggies.

When I worked at that same hotel I had to take food spoilage classes- and cantaloupes, raspberries and other melons are actually the biggest carriers of salmonella besides chicken. Crazy huh?

Well said, as long as the place offers you a GOOD service, GOOD food, and GOOD prices then go for it. I know it's my FH's and my day as well but for me is very important that my family and friends have as much of a good day as me.

Leonard's gave us a really low price, but it was definitely not our style. Too opulent, flashy. But if you are looking for a bolder look, you should definitely check it out.

Also, i think I remember that passed hors d'eurves were not included (it was extra to have servers pass them).

Re: Any opinions on Leonards of great neck for the reception hall?

Thanks for all of your opinions.

As for all of the food poisonings- Leonard's Brides- don't worry- Leonard's changed owners with in the past few years- and completely CLEANED house- fired all staff and started fresh. The food is better than it was- they have filet mignon offered on every single menu from the cheapest per person to the most elaborate.

If you haven't yet- go to a tasting. We did. Everything was delectable!!! Especially the seafood BLACK raviolis and the filet. We filled our bellies and drank a lot of free booze and joked around in our future hall. My FH and I were in the ceremony room completely being CRAZY- (he told me to go outside and pretend I was coming in to marry him- and I when I walked in- HE MOONED ME!!!)

He said when I'm nervous the day of- I can think of that!!!

Wahoo!
