Are there any past brides who did not do favors? Was their a negative reaction from guests? I dont know if this idea will go over too well with the in laws, but I am really NOT finding any affordable but Nice and useful favors that I like. I do like wine bottles- but they seem like they are going to cost a lot, and I do like chocolate, but still it can add up with a large wedding which we are having. My idea is to cut costs and not do favors...but I dont know if this is a good or bad idea

I went to a wedding this week and she gave no favors I did not even notice, I don't think you have to give favors JMO

More and more brides are not doing favors. Most people do not even use them. I still do not know either. I like wine, but will look into how costly it will be.

I have to be honest- I DO notice when there are no favors at a wedding. I would find another way to save money.
You don't need to go overboard on favors. How much were you lookng to spend (and how many guests are you planning to have)?

we're not doing favors but....
I'm rolling around the idea of these bottle stoppers. they're only $1.50 and come wrapped as you see in the pic.

we didn't do them, we had italian confetti in the organza bags at each table setting and that was it!
no biggie as far as we were concerned...

i want you to be honest thats why i am tossing ideas around
200 people MINIMUM, more likely around 215 with children...
My sister did not do favors. Instead she put a program type note on each table that said in lieu of favors a donation had been made in loving memory of our father to a foundation that studies that ailment he died from.

you can always get little bags. Fill them with kisses. Not expensive and it is just a little something.
Good luck.

I'm torn on this issue. On the one hand, I don't think it's a big deal to not have favors, on the other hand, I think people expect them nowadays. I do think it's a nice way to say thank you to your guests. Why not make CDs that you can burn at home? Or candies in organza bags. There's actually tons of creative thigns you can get. Also, seed packes in the shape of a heart or a butterfly. Tons of unique things that just add a little thank you.

Re: Any past brides who did not do favors?
Jewish weddings, more often than not, do not have favors (some do). I have been to more Jewish weddings than non-Jewish weddings in my lifetime and I certainly do not miss favors nor would I think less of ANYONE who doesn't give me one (regardless of the custom). Any favors I HAVE received from any wedding get shoved in a drawer never to be seen again. I look at them, say 'Oh this is nice' and put them away. I am not doing favors personally, but had, at one point, considered sending people home with bagels, cream cheese and a copy of the Sunday NY Times. Even that is costly.

i don't care if people 'expect' them or not---we're not doing them. i think they're a waste and i've thrown out almost every favor i've ever gotten.
don't worry what other people think--i've gotten over thinking about what people will think about me a LONG time ago and it helps make my decisions easier

Re: Any past brides who did not do favors?
we chose not to do favors because of budget constraints....there was no negative feedback from guests. I had ONE BM say that we should, but if we didn't want to or couldn't, then she wasn't going to argue.
Don't feel you HAVE to...it's your wedding and for whatever reason you choose not to, it's fine! There is no rule saying a favor is an absolute must
