Any sober brides?

Any sober brides?

So we don't drink, what's the deal do we just let everyone at the Rh know that we don't drink, don't want to be offered a drink, need oj in our classes....Seems a little overwhelming, any ideas?

what i would do is.. just tell the Maitre'd and your Bridal Attendant that you dont drink.. they are the ones that will come up to you all night asking if you need anything... that was the case with me.. i never had to go to the bar once to get a drink..

no problem at all! just make sure u tell the Banquet manager & maitre d that it's something that's really important to you...and that u want OJ in ur toasting flutes Most reception halls are AMAZING when it comes to details for the bride & groom. they should take care of it as long as u make it clear...no worries!

ps; i would tell them as u go to ur meeting, then tell them the few days before when u drop off all ur stuff, and again when u get there

yess-- i agree with the above ladies-- && they have the sparkling non alcoholic stuff to toast to!

You can pretty much ask them to put whatever you want in the toasting flutes. FSIL doesn't drink so at her wedding she had them put Sprite in hers

You shouldn't worry. Your RH should be able to work with you on whatever you want. Do you want it for you and FH or no champagne for everyone because you can also have a drink that can be incorporated into your theme (if you have one). Just a thought to make it a little more fun if you are afraid of upsetting anyone-even though no one should be.

I don't see how non-alcoholic sparkling cider would be a problem with your RH... it has to be cheaper than Champagne! I would ask if they could do this...

Same with me. I don't drink (he does) and we have two recovered alcoholics in our wedding party. We are having open bar but are not pushing it on anyone and I don't want it pushed on me. Everyone knows I don't drink but its our wedding day. I agree on telling the people who work at the RH to help you out!

We dont drink. If we do its Strawberry Dacqs. I might have a tiny tiny sip of the champagne or ask them to put Sprite in the flutes.

I don't think anyone is going to worry about what you are drinking, they are going to be looking at how beautiful you are going to look.

I am not a sober bride, however, I don't see why your RH won't provide you with non-alcoholic alternatives as long as you let them know your wishes. I am asking for certain dishes to be served without the accompanying alcohol-based sauces in deference to those guest who do not drink for whatever reason.

FH and i are straight edge, so we dont drink. we're not having a champagne toast, we're doing something more 'us' instead. last time i posted about it tho some girl gave me crap. we've had no problems asking our RH, they should be very accommodating, its your day. FM if you wanna talk about more, we can relate to each other i'm sure.

i am the 'some gurl'..... nice of you to remember me... i think i 'gave you crap' b/c u wanted to impose this on all your guests which i didnt think was right.... whatever is your choice is your choice... it shouldnt affect 100's of guests though ... and thats still my opinion... take it any way you please

Re: Any sober brides?

other than the champagne toast, they never gave me anything to drink without asking what I wanted. At the beginning of the night the maitre'd asked me what I wanted, and then he basically just kept refilling me with that unless I told him I wanted something else. So, nobody is going to give you alcohol unless you ask for it. It's really not a big deal at all. And even if they leave a glass of champagne for you to toast with, you can always just ignore it and use your other glass (which I think I may have done, I don't remember)

(I drank shirley temples all night. dangerous for the white dress, but by the time I got to the reception, I didn't really care anymore anyway)

I would just let the Matre D' and the Bridal Attendant know that you don't drink.

My suggestion though maybe drink some ginger ale in a glass to make it appear as though you're drinking something else if you want to get the 'appearance' of you drinking something like wine or champange.

i dont even think you need to say anything :) if someone asks you for a drink, just tell them what you want. i am sure there will be so much going on no one will even notice.

My FH and I only drink once in a very very blue moon, and haven't drank since we started a strict bodybuilding diet to be in perfect condition for the wedding. i am sure on the day of the wedding if we have one drink we would get very sick.

funny, you arent the girl, note i spelled it the correct way. i'm not imposing anything on my guests, there will be an open bar, we simply do not want people toasting to us with alcohol.
