the company I interviewed at wants to meet with me again. This time with the CFO - but they want to meet Friday at 10. What excuse to I give my boss at my job for taking a half day????????
Last time I used - I have to drive my mom to the Dr. she needed a test done.

Why can't you just take the whole day off? Say you are going away for the weekend or something?

I agree with this..but then again my company is pretty lax about time off if you got the PTO saved.

Re: any suggestions?!
I jstu had off last friday. and normally they like it if you give a little more notice that follow up appt might work. my mom told me to tell him that i have to meet with the church and they could only do it in the mornings

Re: any suggestions?!
i say, if you already fibbed once, keep it consistent.
i'm not sure about your company... but for some, when you start using your wedding as an 'excuse' to get out of work.... they may start to frown on that...

Re: any suggestions?!
I remember interviewing for jobs when I had one and the usual rule of thumb is that the new employer tacitly asks you to come in at inconvenient times to see whether you would drop the ball with your current employer (ie the thinking goes 'well if she can make it to a 10 am on a Friday and she has a job, and also made it last week for a 3 pm on a Tuesday,...what does that say about her work ethic at her current job??).
What I used to do was tell the new employer, 'listen I have responsibilties where I work now and dont want to advertise that I am job searching so if its possible, I can meet during lunch any day next week but I dont feel comfortable taking days at work because my boss doesnt like it..' (or something to that effect).
Of course, it doesnt apply if your current boss is really cool and laid back (none of my former bosses weren't).

at least you got the half day.
And honestly, I know you worry that they frown on you taking time off or not giving enough notice, but do you really care because apparantly you be there that much longer anyways? Take all the time off you want! LOL

Re: any suggestions?!
I hate fibbing because when someone asks me a follow up question to the fib I get bright red and stutter so I try my hardest never to lie. lol... I would get caught instantly.. Good Luck on the job interview though.. is it in the same field... or career change?

Re: any suggestions?!
michelle - that's what I did to him last week - I said - I need the morning off for an appt. thanks! lol
it is in the same field - accounting. I am thinking that maybe accounting isn't right for me anymore. It seems that the most I stay at one job is like 3 years in the accounting field. lol I jstu want a job that I go to at 8 and leave at 4 (or 9-5 - u get the point), no one looks at me weird when I leave on time. All these jobs swear that their place is like that without me even asking (i dont think they'd like it much if i flat out asked that question) I want no stress!!!

Re: any suggestions?!
I'd just leave it vague.
I just send an email to everyone in the office saying, 'I will be leaving at..' or 'I will be in late..' I never give a reason.
