Hey Diana, congratulations and welcome.
It is very overwhelming at first, but don't worry, you've come to the right place for help!
Tell us a little more about what you are looking for, i.e., number of people, location, price, etc.

Congratulations!!!!! How exciting and welcome!!! Well, to start off, where are you? Do you prefer to be in Nassau or Suffolk, or the city? What kind and size wedding would you like? We are all here to help you!
First off congratulations! This is an exciting time in your life - it's extremely overwhelming but take your time and figure out what you and FH want! Second, sit down with FH (and family too) and talk MONEY and figure out how much you can REALISTICALLY SAVE and the time frame you will need to save it. Next talk guest list ... 50 people versus 300 people can make a WORLD of difference on where you will look Then talk about what you want your wedding to be - the look you love - classic, modern, victorian, etc - becuase halls range in their looks Then talk about the price range you can afford - Price per head x .19 gratuity x .0875 tax = real cost per head Then you can start looking at halls you want. Good luck and ask any questions, we are here to help!

Re: Any suggestions or advice
Well, I'm planning to have the wedding on either Dec. 2, 2005 or Dec. 3, 2005.... We are inviting 200 people.... I'm not so concerned about what the place looks like, however, I don't want it to look like a flop house.... The food is important....
We can not afford a really expensive place- anything over $110.oo is way too much...
Also, looking for places that have pretty ceremony sites...

Re: Any suggestions or advice
Here are some questions you should ask when viewing a reception hall ... Check List: 1. Room Dimensions 2. Max # of people room holds 3. Tables – round, oval, square, rectangle, octagonal 4. # of persons per table 5. How many affairs at a time 6. Wait staff per table 7. Recommended Gratuity – above and beyond the included tax & tip 8. Valet – included? 9. Vendor Dinner Price – ½ price of guests or set amount? 10. Bridal Suite 11. Bathrooms – how do they look 12. Renovations Planned – expected date of start/finish 13. Photo’s of facility in different seasons 14. Menu Options – packages, # of courses, additions, substitutions 15. Wedding Cake – included? 16. Flowers – included? For cocktail hour or reception? 17. Place Cards / Direction Cards – provided? 18. Installments/Payment Plans – do you send courtesy reminder? 19. Is there an affair before ours – time? 20. Type of Payment - Cash, Credit Card, Check 21. Meeting the Maitre’d and Chef 22. Once we choose, discount or free dinner for us and parents 23. Any Tasting Events or Showcases before we book 24. Cake Cutting Service Charge? 25. Smoking room - available? 26. Recommendations / Advice from Event Planner
Welcome to the group and congrats on your engagement!
I used that Wedding Sites and Servies site like a bible for the first few weeks. (Someone else posted the link I believe)

Re: Any suggestions or advice
I dont know anything about Jericho Terrace - but I have been to Villa Lombardis. My Jr Prom was there and it was really nice. the food is good. My cousin also had her wedding there and I thought it was one of the best cocktail hours I have ever been to.
