I was wondering if anyone else is daring this.....I will graduate this December, and HOPEFULLY I will get a job by the wedding, just wondering if I will be crazy during my first year of teaching and getting married in Nov.....

I'm actually getting married in February....but it will be PResidents Day Weekend with the Midwinter Recess following
ME TOO! And I am taking off the week afterwards as well. I'll need more time! I also teach summer school and the salary is too good to pass up. I'm also not a fan of the heat and I'd be miserable if the a/c conked out on us during a summer wedding.

We are getting married the Sunday of Columbus Weekend, but I don't have that Monday off but the good news is that I have tenure so I'll take a few days off. We are going for our official honeymoon in December though.

I am getting married in April a week AFTER our Easter break. I figure having off the week before would be good for finishing those last minute details. It is also my first year teaching and going back to school so it should be a hectic and crazy year. As well as memorable. Good Luck!!

We didn't.
I took of the first week of school. My principal took it well. Life cannot revolve around work. I wasn't going to plan our wedding around my work schedule.
AMEN to that Sistah!!!!

I am so jealous of you all I went to our headmaster and she basically said NO!!!! SO now I am getting married in June 06...but I always dreamed of a autumn wedding. Fh wanted to go on honeymoon right after wedding and not wait...and I agree. Oh well, good luck to all you lucky ducks who are getting married when you really want
i dont get it...how can someone tell you no when youre getting married? Do you need special approval- cause it doesnt sound like you teach in a public school- is it done differentely?

You're right, I work at a private school in Brooklyn that 'frowns on' taking any personal days off...they're not even thrilled when we call in sick. 3 months before the end of the school year, we were all called into a meeting to tell us that the school had used up it's substitue budget and we shouldn't call in sick if at all possible. So, being in my 2nd year, I decided not to make any waves with the new (again) headmaster...I guess you have to pick and choose your battles and I think I was just too tired that day

I was married in April. I was married on good friday and left for my honeymoon on easter. I took two extra days from work, they didnt give me a hard time...and I wasnt tenured yet.

My FH is a teacher and we are getting married the Saturday before Thanksgiving and taking our honeymoon right away. He is going to be at a new school in September and their response was 'we'll work it out'
