I'm getting married at Stewart Manor Country Club. I have to tell you though, my girlfriend married at Thatched Cottage a few years back and was thrilled with it! My FH and I checked it out first and fell in love with it as well. We really wanted to book it, but all of our family and friends are either Nassau or Westchester, so it was a bit too far. If it were closer, we probably would have stopped looking (not that I'm not thrilled with my choice)...good luck!

Im getting married at Lands End (I wanted the water - and looked at Thatched, plus it is in my hometown) the only things I would consider about Thatched Cottage is 1. They allowed us to walk around during someones wedding..I actually went up the stairs while the bride was coming down to be announced... 2. VALET!! Insist on well-dressed, non-smoking valets...When we parked our car the valet had a dirty tshirt on and was smoking a cigarette. When I came back to my car, the drivers window was down (I had the AC on and the window up) and my car smelled like smoke...I mentioned it to the saleswoman, and she seemed upset, but siad they didn't have much choices on who they could hire for valet service (they hire amother service to park cars - and that road is dificult to park on) good luck planning...have you considered to have your pictures taken at the beach down the road? or at the mill pond?

thank you all for responding!! I know there are lots of other ladies on this site, but I guess they don't want to tell us where their wedding is!!! hahaha Yabbobay-thanks for the advice. I went to a wedding there a couple of summers ago, and we didn't have any problems. I would really hate it if I heard a story like that abuot our valet doing something similar to one of our guest...so I will mention it to our consultant. And about the pictures..we went yesterday as a matter of fact, and reserved space at the Vanderbilt. Has anyone else gone wayyyyy over budget??????? hahahahhaa

Well I havent decided where I am getting married yet. But Stewart Manor is my top choice as of now. I never been to the Thatched Cottage but sounds great, I live in Queens so would probably be too far. Where is it exactly? Also Marnies, If you could give me any info on Stewart Manor since you already booked it, that would be great? How many people are you having? Good Luck to all Kimberly

Hi- Well, we don't have a set guest list as of now, but we are hoping to have no more than 150 attend the wedding. We haven't been back since booking back in July - but I know that the man Frank we booked with is no longer there, which we are a little bummed about. But we went for a tasting and the food was great! We booked that night after tasting the food. I absolutely love the room - fits up to 200 comfortably. I love that the entire room is hardwood floors, so you don't feel like the dance floor runs out. I love the beams - reminds me of a tudor home. They also decorate beautifully at Christmas time, when I'm getting married. The price includes very nice centerpieces and cocktail hour floating flowers, so that is a huge help! And you can't beat their price, especially for being the only wedding there. They are located in Stewart Manor, but technically it's Garden City (border line Franklin Square)I am not exactly sure what else you'd like to know about the place; I'm much better at answering questions!! :) So if you have any questions, please ask away!!! Best of luck!! I don't think you can go wrong with Stewart Manor - have you looked at it yet??

Thanks a whole bunch for the info so far. Yes I have looked at Stewart Manor and I loved it and the price seems reasonable. We are planning on March 2003, (We are looking at winter months to save money) I havent tasted the food but I asked if we could and they said they would invite us when something was going on. When did you taste the food? Was it at a party going on there? Did you have to pay extra for Valet Parking? Did they throw any extras in? Sorry for all the questions but I want to do this right and I dont know anyone who is or has got married there. I really appreciate it. My only problem is we are probably inviting more then 200, but I am hoping they dont come and we have about 200, I am just worried about there being room on the dance floor. Thanks for any help you can give Kimberly

Hi Kimberly- No problem with the info - I'm glad to help. As for valet, you know, you bring up an interesting point. I'm going to call them tonight with that question - it was never mentioned that valet was a charge, so I just assumed that it was included - I hope I'm right!! And with the change in management, I hope that still stands. I don't think it's actually in my contract. As for extras, no, nothing was really 'thrown' in - but then again they do include A LOT in their already reasonable prices - all centerpieces, cocktail hr. floaters and the cake. So we didn't push anything - they also give a lot of food choices!! The one problem I had was the food tasting 'time'...we went during someone's cocktail hour. But I have to say that it was really our fault...they had us down to come approx. 15 min. before the cocktail hour officially started (while the bride, groom, etc were taking pictures)but we were running late. We tried to sneak in, but you know the layout of the place - the front door leads right through the cocktail hour. But even if we had been on time we would have had to leave the same way - and we knew the bride saw us. We felt terrible!! So I'm just going to make a point to say that i was unhappy with that, and I would prefer it if they didn't have any people come during our cocktail hour...we actually tasted the food in the office, which they brought out from the cocktail hour food.

Please - ask away!! And not a problem - I don't know if I would have been able to do half the stuff I have without the help of brides on this board!! I don't know anyone who actually got married there, but I believe one of the brides on this board used to work at Stewart Manor and recommended it. After we booked it, it turned out that many people I've talked to attended weddings there and had nothing but good things to say about it!! Made me even more confident in our decision...Another bride on the boards is marrying at Stewart Manor, so I'm going to post a message to her to see if she knows about the valet parking, and I'm going to call them...I'll let you know...Please keep us posted and the BEST OF LUCK...you are going to feel wonderful once you decide, no matter what you decide! It really becomes reality once the deposit is down...

Stewart Manor is right by my house, I don't know much about it. It's normally not that packed on the weekend though. I did have my sweet sixteen there back in the day when it had different owners and the rooms were nice and the food was great! I choose the Imperial Manor in bethpage

When I spoke with Don on the phone at Stewart Manor, he said valet parking wasnt included, because it is an option. meaning you dont need to have it and it is not in the contract. So basically he was telling me if someone wants it they pay extra for it. Let me know if they include it in your package or how much they want? I will tell you the same when I find out.
