Any TINY Brides?

Any TINY Brides?

I really want to start dress shopping within the next few months but I am REALLY TINY.....I actually had my measurements taken for a bridesmaid dress yesterday and was shocked at just how tiny I am! My measurements were 29-23-33.... (5 ft tall, 91 lbs) Are there any tiny brides out there? What kind of dresses did you look at?

My biggest fear is that I will look ridiculous in everything I want to look like a Bride not a Communion girl

If you are tiny please post your pictures so I feel better! I am so nervous - I seriously feel like I will look like a 15 year old trying on gowns

hey remember the heels! they'll add at least 2 -3 inches? as for dresses, i don't know... maybe just try different styles and and see which ones u look more 'grown-up' in (like halter, strapless...)

or are u just worried about going into stores and trying things on?

I wouldn't call myself tiny, but I am 5'2 and about 100 lbs. There are lots of pictures in my review.

As for gowns, the only thing I ruled out was large ballgowns. My gown was full on the bottom, but controlled. I felt like I was swallowed up by ball gowns... but that was just a personal opinion. HTH!

I think my biggest fear is that all the dresses I like will look ridiculous on me and I hate when people are like OMG you are soooo little, blah blah, its like if I was overweight, you wouldn't be saying OMG you are sooooooo huge - maybe people think they are giving you a compliment but yeah I know that I'm little - why are you making such a big deal about it

Check out Brittny817s album.

She is TINY and looked FABULOUS on her wedding day. In her pics, you'd think she was 5'7'

I am only 5' tall (weigh much more than you) and my DH is 6'4' and a big guy...but i found a dress i loved...yes many of the samples were huge...but my dress sample which is a Jasmine had multiple zippers in it so you can see how your size would look on you...pretty cool...pics in albums...enjoy shopping & as i say to people who say i am so short 'Good things come in small packages!!!'

I'm tiny too--5' and 100 lbs. When I went dress shopping, right off the bat I ruled out a ballgown and a train that was too long because I knew it was too overwhelming for my small frame.

Otherwise, try everything on. I was aiming for a sleeker dress since I'm small and didn't want too much fabric, but I ended up with an a-line gown with pick-ups. I didn't think I could wear it, but I put it on and I stopped shopping after that.

Well you can choose any dress just have them alter it with your measurements

i'm tiny - i knew i didn't want the big poofy dress so i went with sexy! though now i read advice on mermaid gowns being for tall, slender figure, i made sure to look for one that flattered me. i loooooove my dress, can't wait to post pics about it in a week!

I'm pretty small also (5', 115 lbs) and I was worried about the same thing especially b/c the 'girls' are a bit more bountiful than usual for my size so I always have a problem w/ dresses. I thought I was going to get something slimmer than what I ended up in but you'd be surprised how good us shorties look in A-line dresses.

ok i feel a little better

i just dont want to go try gowns on and they give me a hard time and try to tell me not to even bother with certain dresses - because ill get annoyed and tell them where to go ......i def dont want a ball gown but there are a whole bunch of other different styles that i like (mostly a-line) and i want to try them all on.....i just dont want the salespeople to discourage me even more.......if they are smart they won't care - they should just want the sale

I'm 4'11 and weigh about 110lbs. I'm a bit curvier then you but I had no problems finding a dress! You'll gonna look fantastic. Try on everything and don't let someone talk you out of trying on a style because they think you won't look good in it. Good luck and let us know when you find something

Re: Any TINY Brides?

I hear ya, but I'm not worry about the dress, they'll make it fit me. And of course a ball gown is out of the question.
My concern is that when I'm standing next to FH, we'll look ridiculous. He's 6'5 and I'm 5'1 and weight 95lbs. He towers over me.

I hear ya.....my FH is a little over 6 feet - I'm going to need some big heels!

Re: Any TINY Brides?

We just got married on September 29, 2007 and yes, I was a tiny bride. Do not worry or be nervous.
You will look beautiful. I had a wonderful idea of what I wanted my wedding dress to be. I only tried on one dress and that was the perfect dress for me. I am a dancer/dance teacher so I went with a strapless ballerina/cinderella tulle dress with scattered rinstones. The wedding dress is your choice and needs to fit you and your personality. I also wore a high heel open toe shoe. Which I changed into istoner ballet slippers at the reception. Remember, the style of your wedding dress and wedding shoes are totally up to you. There are many wedding designers web sites on the computer so you look at the wedding dresses before you go to the wedding shop. The designer of my wedding dress is Justin Alexander. The dress was so beautiful. If you have any other questions just FM me.

here is a 5'0' bride. She wore a pouffy dress, heels and higher hair and you couldn't tell she was that height.

Re: Any TINY Brides?

are you more concerned about the height or the measurements? i can't really relate on the height because i'm 5'6', but i can definitely relate on the measurements. My dress is by Melissa Sweet, and they definitely were able to accomodate my 'littleness.' I believe a size 0 was about a 24 inch waist, 33 inch hips, and a 32 inch chest. That's obviously going to be slightly big in your waist and big in the chest, but it's nothing alterations can't fix! The gowns are mostly in sample sizes 6 and 8, but when I tried it on they took clips and pinned it tight so I could see what it woudl look like. I'd recommend checking out her dresses!
