Re: Any TINY Brides?

im not worried about the alterations - im just worried that everything i try on will look bad on me! and i feel like it might be hard to tell if i like anything even though its clipped - especially if im trying on a size 8 - maybe i'll grow a few inches taller and get some boobs in the next few months LMAO!

are you more concerned about the height or the measurements? i can't really relate on the height because i'm 5'6', but i can definitely relate on the measurements. My dress is by Melissa Sweet, and they definitely were able to accomodate my 'littleness.' I believe a size 0 was about a 24 inch waist, 33 inch hips, and a 32 inch chest. That's obviously going to be slightly big in your waist and big in the chest, but it's nothing alterations can't fix! The gowns are mostly in sample sizes 6 and 8, but when I tried it on they took clips and pinned it tight so I could see what it woudl look like. I'd recommend checking out her dresses!

Here's my dress:

Ohh... I love that dress. Very similiar to mine

well if it makes you feel better, i have a 24 inch waist and 35 inch hips. so i'm a bit bigger than you (i'm cuban so lord knows my hips would be 35 inches even if i had a 10 inch waist ). i also have a hard time with clothes, but i was a pleasure trying on dresses. they had to clip those bad boys A LOT, but it was still fun!!

i know i'm a lot taller than you, but what if you bring 5 inch heels with you? they make u try on the dresses with shoes anyway, so maybe that would help pick up the excess length on a size 8 or size 6 so it wouldn't drag on the ground and you'd like the look

I would play up your little figure maybe with something form fitting or mermaid, or even a drop waist ball gown...if you are worried about communion (which you shouldn't be!!!) go for ivory and maybe play with fabrics and textures. I am by no means tiny (5'6'', close to 150, half of that is in my chest ), but I worked in retail while in high school and college, and I got very skilled in helping people find things! I know Fantasia Bridal is great with clipping things and such. One of my BMs is your proportions and they clipped her there and you would never know she was petite! You are lucky...play it up!

i would suggest something more aline rather than poofy or very tight fitting - im sure the people at the stores will be able to suggest a style that is perfect for you!

I am not as tiny as you, but I'm about 5'2' and under 120lbs. I found that I looked best in A-line dresses & I wore strapless. My dress also had a slightly dropped waist which made me look like I had a longer body. So maybe a dress with a dropped waistline? Definately stay away from mermaid cut because that will make you look shorter. Ball gowns (the very full princess skirts) made me look more like the dress was wearing me as did anything with a pick-up skirt.

I also wore 3.5 inch heels for the ceremony & 3 inch platform flip-flops for the reception.

Here's a pic of my BFF on her wedding day last Friday! She is just about 5 ft. She thought should would get something a-line or very simple but fell in love with this gown! She looked great!

I totally agree with all the A-line girls. I'm 5'1', but very curvy...Aline not only flattered real well but with the V at the waste(which I highly recommend as well because it makes you look longer) and sweetheart neckline(I looked like a stuffed sausage in the straight across look ) I think those combos would be real flattering. Stay away from the straight across waste, and stick with V...it elongates your waste. I also agree about the ballgowns...I looked terrible in them even though I always wanted a dress just like that. I was real dissapointed they didn't flatter me. I have pics of my dress in my album if you're interested! I did my final fitting just last week and picked it up last night! I'll be wearing it in 2 days. I ca'nt wait!! Keep us posted!! You'll do great! No worries!!

Re: Any TINY Brides?

I feel your pain!! I was a nervous wreck to go dress shopping because I had your exact thoughts - COMMUNION GIRL!!

I'm 4'11 93lbs..so I'm as Tiny as they come..in fact everyone I know calls me Tiny (but my Grandfather started that when I was born, he jinxed me lolz)..

I really didn't think I was going to like anything, I wasn't really into looking at wedding dresses even online or in magazines because I was always thinking 'Of course they all look good on the models, they have perfect bodies..it'll look ridiculous on me'..

Then I came across my dress online one nite and I fell in LOVE and I just really, really wanted to try it on. As soon as I had it on..I felt like one of the models in the magazine. Even though it was a size 10 and was clipped every possible way it could be lolz..there's just something about being in a beautiful wedding gown.

Just go try some on..I'm sure you'll feel a lot better about it.

Us lil brides can be beautiful too!! lolz. I so get what your saying about how people make the 'your so little' comments. What I hate even more is when they ask me if I eat.
