No, but its been in discussion lately. I am having a hard time losing weight at all and doctor said I might need to go back to chicken and stuff. But the idea of it grosses me out and I know once I ate meet by accident and I was really sick that night. ![]()

I did, after about 6 or 7 years. It just got to be too difficult to make separate meals for me and FH, who is a meat-eater. I eat almost anything now, but try to limit it to just a few times a week. And I still don't eat anything that has a bone in it!

see, fh wants me to start eating chicken and he'll stop smoking. i say it is totally different b/c his is for health reasons (to quit) and i gave up meat for ethical reasons. the thought of eating meat again wigs me out...i know when i am pregnant, i will be lady carnivore, but i am sickened at the thought of chewing it. ![]()

That is a totally unfair deal!!
I ate meat LONG before I would ever go near chicken. In fact, it still kind of grosses me out, but I'll eat it occasionally. FH has to cook it though - I don't want to look at it until it's thoroughly cooked and, preferably, hidden under some kind of sauce or a large pile of veggies!
ETA: I can't believe my 1000th post is about chicken....

I wouldn't go back to meat. From what you said it sounds like your FH doesn't respect and understand your decision/ethics. It sounds like he is looking for a fair trade, he gives up something important, you give up something important. Can you think of something you can do/give up instead of meat?
I lost my father to lung cancer that spread to his bones because of smoking (after he had bladder cancer for a number of years). I wish you and your FH all the best in his attempts to stop. Unfortunately, it wasn't until my father was diagnosed with cancer that he stopped. I hope it doesn't take that for your FH. I wouldn't want to see another person go through what my father went through.

I did..I was vegetarian and eat meat now...I didnt eat meat because it seems cruel when I think about it..so I didnt eat it for years, but I always knew it tasted good, anyhow I was making meals for dh and I ended up eating it again..when I really think about it I can make myself very sick..I mostly eat fish, rarely read meat

I did. I did it for health reasons. I went back to meat because I wanted to loose weight before the wedding and its hard with all low carb stuff ify ou don't eat meat. I think I will stop again after the wedding. I don't eat much meat anymore- it just gives me more options at restaurants.

i am a vegetarian and thinking about eating meat again, partly b/c my husband keeps pushing me too and also, b/c i eat too many carbs and I want to cut it down. I can't get by with just salad & veggies.
Now that I cook more often, it doesn't gross me out as much. we'll see.

I have been a vegetarian for 15 years now and couldn't imagine going back to meat, but I started for ethical reasons. I personally can't imagine chewing the stuff and actually getting it down at this point, and I agree with Sasha96 -- eating meat so someone else would stop smoking doesn't exactly seem like a fair trade!

I have been a vegetarian for 15 years. I think that the only thing that could get me to eat meat again is becoming pregnant. I have too many issues with the meat industry.

I made a deal with DH that I would stop smoking & he would stop eating raw onions - the smell physically repulses me.
But what about a trade like that where you give up something you like that he doesn't?
I can't see why he would expect you to give up your princples for him to quit smoking.

FH and I turned veggie recently... it always grossed me out and I really can't imagine ever eating it again... and it's funny because now that we stopped eating meat (we still eat fish), I eat more protein than I ever did, and so fewer carbs... lots of fish, soy, tofu, beans, etc...
