Anybody did an afternoon reception?

Original post by Treeoflife

What was your experience having an afternoon reception? How was the atmosphere? would it be different from an evening wedding.

We are going to have a cocktail hour and sit-in dinner of four courses. The reception starts at 1.30-6.30pm. Is that much food for an afternoon.

Thank you girls. I told my FI that I am sold for an afternoon. (FI: 'Thanks for the LI brides')

Re: Anybody did an afternoon reception?

Hi all!!

I am considering a Saturday afternoon wedding reception (from 1-6) as well. With a Saturday afternoon I would save $15pp as compared to Saturday night and plus, I would get a bigger room at the RH...

The only concern I had is since I am catholic, I need to be married in a church as opposed to the Reception hall. I am concerned as to how early to book the ceremony, as I am not sure how much time the photographers need in order to take pictures in between (i have only been to evening receptions where the ceremony started around 3 and the reception at 6, so not sure how this would work with an afternoon reception starting at 1)

Also, same thing with the after party, since our reception would end at 6, any ideas on after parties where our guests could hang out afterwards (where we would not need to spend an additonal fortune! haha)...

Thanks!!

the atmosphere i think is a little different than that of an evening wedding, but not in a bad way....just a matter of what you would like...
