Anybody Finding Truth in....

Anybody Finding Truth in....

The statement I am sure most of you heard when you got engaged....'Weddings bring out the worst in everyone'? I tell you, I know everyone has my best interests in heart but at times it seems people run with things (especially parents) that have nothing to do with what you want and certain members of my Bridal Party have said things or I heard things they did that I am like

Its all very upsetting at times because I never acted this way in weddings I had been in the past and I can't understand why weddings do this to family and friends......

Anyone else going through this?

Yup. The last 2 or 3 weeks their has been some miscommunication between parents and BP. My FI basically had to take charge and put everyone in their place.

I am going through something similar with one of my BM, she doesn't approve of Newport for the bachelorette party. She gave me, and the rest of the BMs', a really hard time about it. My sister, MOH, and the bridal party are trying to plane my shower and she said they're not really coming to an agreement. ARGHHH! Whatever. I just know that when I'm their BM I am going to be so easy going, because I know from experience that the bride doesn't need any added frustration.

You're kidding right!!!

I've seen so much selfish bullstuff in the past 10 months since we got engaged that I am ready to chuck the whole wedding idea and go to Vegas just to get it over with!!! (Hence my chat title!!)

YES that statement is very true. I was happily engaged for about 5 minutes...then the 'planning' started and everyone had an opinion about what THEY wanted and all along the way I've been getting crap from everyone and it has totally made me question why the hell I'm having a wedding. THANK GOD it's over this weekend!

Well I am glad I am not alone in this....I can't believe how different people are when it comes to these things......I can almost understand when it comes to mothers or parents because this is what they look forward to, but I am shocked by some of my BM because I would NEVER act like some of them have if I was in a wedding party...

I hear it!!!!!!!! My parents are divorced but have always semi got along for the kids sake. Now my mom has become this complete b***c...she can't be around him, she can't be around my stepmom at the shower...my stepfather should walk me down the aisle instead of my father!!!!!!!! She never acted like this before. She has made this day more about her and the 'feud' with my father than about me and my FH.

I just think too many hands, heads and opinions can be a bad thing. The other thing I am seeing is that people think because I don't want to spend soooo much money that I am skimping on my wedding. I am not skimping, I am just trying to be economical!!!!!!!!

I totally feel this is true! As well as the advice everyone gave me ' You can never make everyone happy' They talk about the infamous 'bridezilla' but in some cases I am thinking its those around her who make her go off the deep end!

Up until the past month I was happy about my wedding! Now I wish I could cancel it and elope!!! Its like somewhere along the line everyone forgets that its OUR wedding to celebrate OUR day!

I have a BM that had an argument with my MOH so she didnt come to my bachelorette party. And this BM is a family member! I have 2 BM who earlier in the process said they couldnt afford the expenses (they are both OOT'ers) but they have come around. I have a FH who has been so preoccupied with other things that he doenst seem to realize we are getting married in 17 days! I have someone on FH side who took it upon herself to invite her 2 kids to our wedding (this is the #1 source of my stress and goes iwth the saying above)

The craziness of those around the wedding are the WHOLE reason that the honeymoon was invented! After the months of planning, and fighting, and being driven NUTS, you need to get away from EVERYONE otherwise I think the murder rate would be up in this world!

Oh my god this statement is so true...I was thinking the same thing....I am not a bridezilla and I really believe there are bridezillas out there, but I literally have had to tell people what I WANT. I hate putting that on people, but so many people run away with things......this is the only time in my life that I feel I will get what I want to have (shower, wedding wise) and I have a right to ask my BP for what I WANT...if you don't want to be a part of it then don't accept when i ask you.....

I have heard brides who have crazy things from their BP that I would never ask my BP to do (I'm not even making them get their hair or make up done if they don't want to) so I get more and more fed up, because I have never said a word in the BP I have been in.

Everything was so calm in the planning stages, now when we get closer and closer things are getting crazy!

OH ABSOLUTELY

I know exactly what you mean. My MOH is driving me nuts, and I really regret giving her the job.

Not only is she not coming to the bridal shower (which she was traditionally supposed to plan, but didn't), but she makes me feel like sh*t for every decision I make. I constantly hear 'when I get married, I am not going to have ANY of that horrible stuff (like at YOUR wedding).'

She insisted on getting a (beautiful) dress that was twice as expensive as the one that every one else liked and absolutely refused to wear anything but what she wanted. Finally, everyone else came around and only changed the top of the dress a tiny bit, which she refused to do. Fine, she is the MOH, she can wear something a little different. Then she insisted upon getting her dress from a different store then all the other girls because she found it for $50 cheaper.
And that is only a small sampling of things she has done...

I never knew she could be selfish. (I think she is jealous becuase wo of her clos friends are getting married within 2 months of eachother, and she is not even close to that stage yet)

On the other hand, my two younger sisters, with whom I have never been particularly close have been absolutely fantastic - and one goes to school in Albany.

heck yeah, like my when I called my BF to tell her I got engaged and she was like you better not be engaged. She's yet to say congrats, no card, and is impossible to get in touch with to do wedding things. All of a sudden she's living la vida loca.
