Re: Anybody spending less than $5000....
I haven't booked yet, but I've already priced it out and it will be less than 5,000. I think we're going to end up going to an all-inclusive in Mexico. Either Excellence or Moon Palace

Posted by jnlax29 oh good!!! I love to hear good things about that place!! Any suggestions, about where to go/what to see, off site?
Don't:
Go to Xcaret or Chichen Itza.
Xcaret - overpriced ecological park - think small zoo. Lots of tropics, very few animals. We went there to do swimming with dolphins. Find a place that JUST does dolphins. People we met at the resort were able to swim with dolphins, walruses, seals, etc... I don't know the name but that sounded really cool.
Chichen Itza - Such a long trip. It's 2 hrs to the ruins, 2 hrs back and about an hour is spent there. It wasn't worth it to me. We wasted a whole day - there are other, shorter trips to diff ruins.
Do:
Take advantage of the staff there - they're SO helpful! Go get a couples massage, take out their kayaks, go snorkeling, do all the water aerobics and stuff.
If you DO go to the ruins - don't buy anything from the marketplace that you will inevitably stop at. They sell the exact same items at the ruins for a fraction of the cost.
I loved Aventura - 24 hr room service, AMAZING staff, beautiful resort. You're going to have an amazing HM!!!!!!
Thank you for all that great advice. I've heard the same thing about Chichen Itza - so I will forgo that. Thanks again! cant wait to go!

After tossing around some ideas, DH and I decided on Key West for a week. It is costing about $2600. That we we can put money away to go see his family next year in Australia.

We're ALSO going to Exellence Riviera Maya, with a honeymoon special package for about 5k. Excursions are costing a few hundred over that for the two of us...
We're really looking forward to it!!!

We are! Sandals St. Lucia, 8 days. We booked a standard room and the hotel is all-inclusive.
Which Sandals at St. Lucia are you staying at? DH and I went to the Halcyon and it was great!

Re: Anybody spending less than $5000....
we'll wind up spending less than 3,000 total. we're flying to seattle and then driving down the coast. we're HUGE baseball fans, so we'll hit all the baseball teams down the way.
At the moment - we're at 1,200 and that includes car rental, hotels and airfare. we haven't included gas or tickets to the games yet - but you could do something similar and leave out the games and spend less than 2k!

Re: Anybody spending less than $5000....
I shouldn't be telling anyone this because it's so cheap, but we're going to Punta Cana Princes Spa & Resort in DR. 7-nights total with air, all inclusive, honey moon suite (hot tub in room with free massages, etc.) includes airport transfer, drinks, $2500 total (for both of us). We're trying to save for a house and are an older couple and have never been to the DR so it worked for us. We checked the reviews on Trip Advisor and they were all pretty decent. I even emailed some of the honey mooners who left reviews and they all said they had a good time...

I am under 5k for Ireland but that is air fair, hotel, beakfast, train tranfer and taxi service. We will be at 5k with dinners and some min tours booking but probably will go over with spending money and depending tours and spending. CIE tours has packages for 5k with all included (meals) and tours depending on when you book but you have a hectic tour schedule (why we didn't book it) for 10 days.

8 days/7 nights at the Dreams Resort in Puerto Vallarta (all-inclusive resort)...for a little over $3000
It would have been even less expensive if we didn't upgrade to a room with a jacuzzi
look on americanexpress.com/travel and libertytravel.com for prices
we're going there also! but for about 4000 bc we are staying more days and its over the summer

Re: Anybody spending less than $5000....
We are spending a little over $6k going to Sandals St. Lucia (Grande) for 7 nights, but it could definitely be done for less!
You could stay 6 nights/7 days, or you could choose a lower level room (we are doing oceanfront penthouse concierge room which is about midrange), and our flights are also slightly more expensive because we are not flying back to NY. It's all inclusive though, including drinks, food, activities on site, etc.
The other 2 Sandals St. Lucia resorts are even cheaper.
I'd also recommend a cruise if you are tight on $$$, we did one in 2006 and it was around $3000, possibly less? Don't remember exactly.
