Re: Anyone been to an outdoor wedding and it rained?

Two years ago my good friend got married outside of Baltimore Md. Her wedding took place in June, outside, on her FH's family farm. They had expected a large turnout almost 300 people, so accordingly planned for a very large tent, but without renting sides. It absolutely poured the week and day of her wedding (if you recall June 06 how much rain the east coast received). Although a handfull of people who RSVP's did not show up they had a nice turnout. What saved their day was that getting a larger tent (even w/o the sides) they had room to move the tables and people away from the sides and rain. They had a really nice time in spite of the inches of rain they got that week.

my sister had an outdoor wedding but when it rained all guests were moved to an adjacent ballroom - it was not as chaotic as we thought. it's good to have a plan B

i was at a rehersal dinner in a tent in the hamptons and it POURED!!!! not even light rain, but torential downpours!! I thought the tent was going to collapse!!! ( at one point it almost did-- but there was 250+ people, and the tent was a 60x120' so it was huge-- and the food and drinks were sooo good that people didnt even notice

don't be nervous...just make sure they have sides for the tent! As you see above posters said everyone still had a great time!!! But i know how you feel...i had a tent wedding..and days before rain was in the forecast...turned out to be a beautiful day...just very foggy!

YEP..OURS!

They had to move it indoors but fortuntaely they ahd pre-planend for that. ****** because we wanted to get married in the gazeebo but cest la vie. It turned out well anyway!

Make sure your RH has an indoor option set up for you JUST IN CASE!

Dont be scared, im sure if you are having it at a venue they will just move it inside. If not make sure that you have sides for the tent, alot of tent companies have them and they roll up or down depending on whether or not it rain
If having it at a venue they will decide about 2-3 hours before hand whether or not to move it inside, CH food and all

A friend of ours was supposed to have her ceremony and CH outside....it rained but the day started out sunny and beautiful. She said about 2 hours before (she was at the hall already) they started moving it inside b/c it was cloudy and looked like it was going to rain.

Had my outdoor tent wedding. Weather held up according to 'my' plan

However it did not two days prior and the ground was all wet and soggy. I was absolutely flipping out the day I arrived which was one day before. I was telling my wedding planner to come with as many blow dryers for that day and hurry up
All I kept thinking was I should have gotten the floor and spent the extra money!

I did happen to get lucky the day of , it was so nice that the fields for the most part dried up. I did have sides to the tent (that should be a must)

If it rains just be prepared just in case they don't have an alternative place for you and your guests, they certainly didn't where we choose!

Love the idea of tent weddings soo much to own the responsibility of excepting what mother nature gives you, and think if it rains it wil be Romantic (have umbrella's handy)
