Anyone been to Tall Grass County Club? Opinions please??

We have never been to the place but hear good things. It's like 90 minutes away from Brooklyn but we plan to check it out at least. There is a showcase on 10/3/04 at 3 p.m. and we plan to go.

Anyone know about the pricing? We want October 2005, Sunday afternoon for 120 guests.

Thanks

Re: Tall Grass County Club showcase 10/3/04 - Anyone going?

I went to look at it over this past weekend. I was not impressed. I am having 120 people as well, and the room is tiny. If you are having a day wedding, beware of the golfers. They are all over. If you are looking for a very simple place and cheap, that is your place....

The BM is adorable. She is so sweet.

Ugh!!! We do not want to drive for 90 minutes for that. Thanks.

The golf must be cheap though. LOL

one persons opinion should not affect your decision. Have you tried Timber Point Country Club?

Nope, have not tried Timber Point.

We only want to spend $15,000 for the total wedding (not including honeymoon). That will be for 120 guests (mabye 130).

We have been to a bunch of places and have agreed that we want a place with outdoor space (for ceremony & cocktail hour) and that we want an afternoon wedding.

not sure about the exact pricing of timber point, but if it's within your range i highly recommend giving it a look. my sister lives like 2 blocks away and it's really picturesque and beautiful.

ETA: if you do wanna go, fm me and i can give you precise directions.

I don't think Timber Point would fall under $15000 for an entire wedding, though it's hard to predict how much you will spend on dress, flowers, music, etc...The places that offer packages might be the best way to stay within budget.

I've been to Tall Grass and it's OK. They have a lot plans for their outside patio they I think will be done in Feb or Mar 2005. They are adding awnings and such so that the patio can be used when the weather is not cooperating. Their prices are really low right now because they are new. This past summer was the first time they catered weddings. If you are looking to be around $15000 for 120 people (which is similar to my budget and # of guests) you should consider it. It may not compare to a lot of the places you go to look at, but the price is good. i think some of the other places out there are beautiful and worth the price, but some are just absolutely rediculous. Timber Point is similar in price to Tall Grass (not as low), but to me it was a little nicer and they have been doing weddings for years. Lenore is the woman that helped us and she is great woman, very sweet. Remember the price also depends on the time of booking (i.e. you are booking under a year in advance, they are looking to fill the spot, etc) so keep that in mind. Prices drop! It's true that there are golfers around during the day so if you are having a day wedding than yes you have to consider whether or not you can deal with that. We are having on a Friday (lower price) evening (no golfers!). Well I hope this helps.

Maybe you should try Beach Club Estate in Ronkonkoma. My fiance just reminded me of it. It's inexpensive for a day wedding, the food is good (same as Windows on the Lake), and you can have your ceremony and cocktail hour outdoors. It's right on the water too, so it's pretty. It's a cute place and worht checking out I think.
