We got some info on ours today, and we're going to join to be supportive of the community. But we are wondering what the purpose is.
We are building in a gated community in Florida and you have to pay the dues for the Homeowner's Assoc. This money helps to take care of the common grounds, clubhouse, pool, etc. Are you living in a gated community where these type of things are available?
No, that's the weird thing about it. It's just like any other section in the town we live in. I have family in other areas of the same town and they don't have homeowner's associations. It's just so odd.
Maybe they are organizing events or doing a neighborhood watch? I'm not sure. Sounds kind of weird to me.
I spoke to our next door neighbor when I was putting out the garbage, and she said they use the fees to keep up a small park in the area and to pay for a few parties throughout the year.
We have a homeowner's association because we are part of a development. Our monthly dues pay for the pool/clubhouse and private snow removal. I went to the a meeting the first year we lived in the house. They basically went over what the money was spent on and what they have planned for the year. You could also make complaints if you have any.
