I drive a Honda Civic now which I love but have the chance to get a new one. I can get either the same Civic or upgrade to an Accord. I'm just worried that the Accord is much bigger and it won't be as easy for me to drive. I'm only 5'3' so I liked driving a smaller car. But everyone thinks an Accord will be better in the long run (safer, better for kids, etc). Anyone have any opinions on driving one? Are they that big?
Thanks!!

Re: Anyone drive a Honda?
I am 5'3' and we used to have a toyota solara which is similar in size to the accord and never once had a problem with the size of the car. My mother even commented how it looked like the car fit me perfectly!!
(I miss that car )

I have an Accord and love it! I've never driven a Civic, so I can't compare, but I certainly don't feel like the Accord is a big car. Can you go to the dealer and test drive it to see how you feel in it?

Re: Anyone drive a Honda?
I test drove an Accord last night and really liked the inside but just felt the nose of it was so long that I would hit something everytime I tried to get into a parking space. Although I think that is because I'm so used to a small car.
I am not going to go to a different type of car - just because Honda is giving us a good deal if we trade mine in.
The new Accords are so nice but I have trouble parking normally- even with my Civic! lol!!

I was the same way when we got the saturn vue I had to get used to parking a different size car, and now I never give it a thought.
But stick with the civic if that's what you love - they are great cars!! The dealer is of course trying to get you to spend more

Re: Anyone drive a Honda?
I LOVE my Accord! I had a Toyota Corolla and then bought the Accord, which was much bigger and took a few days to get used to, but once I did I couldn't imagine going back to a smaller car. I feel so safe in it, and it drives wonderfully.

Re: Anyone drive a Honda?
See part of me wants to stay with a Civic but the other part of me feels I will get used to the Accord and this is my chance to get it. I won't be able to get a new car for a few more years after this and this is definitely an upgrade for me.
What other cars does the Accord compare to in size besides the Solora (I think that's what you said Christine).
my mom is 5'3' and has a massive boat (Lincoln Towncar - the ones they use for taxis)
she pushes her seat all the way up and sometimes does not try certain parking spaces (but the car is a boat), but she loves the space...so I think you would do fine in an Accord

I bought an Accord EX over the weekend. FI and I both love it. It is very easy to drive.

Stick with what you're comfortable with but also check out insurance. The Accord is going to cost more than the Civic. I used to have the Civic and always liked. I switched though because I was treated very badly by Honda - their customer service is for the birds...

Re: Anyone drive a Honda?
Tell me something....If you want to pm me, that is fine. How good of a deal are you getting?
My friend is a salesman at a honda dealer in valley Stream. He gives me really good deals on cars. I may be able to beat the price you got...Let me know if you are interested.

Scott: I totally forgot you had mentioned you have a friend at Valley Stream Honda. I wish I would of remembered when we bought ours. You had mentioned it to me when I was asking about safety. Oh well, I hope we did good, I think we did.

Re: Anyone drive a Honda?
Honestly I have a Jetta I LOVE! But if in 2 years or so I had the opportunity to upgrade the the passat I would.
The Civic and the Jetta are similar small great, safe cars. But if you plan on having a family in the near future you would probably outgrow the Civic quicker.
My FH got a Maxima which is great and I drive it and have no problem(I am 5'4).

Re: Anyone drive a Honda?
I bought my new 2003 Honda Accord in at the Valley Stream dealership. I have the EX. I love it. It is not hard to drive at all. I have it in Graphite Pearl (grey).

Re: Anyone drive a Honda?
I used to drive a Plymouth Neon (my first car), but I upgraded to a Honda Accord when I moved to CA. Anyway - I am only 5'1' tall, and I am VERY comfortable in the Accord. Everything is adjustable, so that should not trouble you. And you will get used to the extra room in the car very fast - to the point that when you do get inside of a smaller car, you'll be uncomfortable!

Re: Anyone drive a Honda?
I have a 2002 CIVIC that I LOVE!! BUT if I had the chance, I would upgrade to the ACCORD. In fact, when my lease is up way after we are married, I probably will. FH came very close to buying an ACCORD a few months ago. They are beautiful. They are much bigger and I definetely would have to get used to it. I can't even parellel (sp?) park my civic! LOL but the accord is better for family's ( thinking waaaaaaay down the line) plus my FH is a big guy (6'2'') so he is more comfortable in an accord.

I'm 5'2' and when I drive DH's Accord, I have no problems, just have to push the seat all the way up!

I am also 5'3' and I have a 97 Dodge Avenger. It is big like the Accord (a big nose). When I first got it I always felt like I would hit things especially going into parking spaces. After time I got used to it and now its no problem. I think you will get used to the bigger car after driving for a few weeks.

Not true, the civic is bigger than the Jetta. Faster than the jetta also, not by much though.
The interior room and trunk are larger than the jetta. The interior of the civic features a flat rear floor. It is the only car in its class with this The interior is also very roomy, more roomy than the jetta.
I think you would outgrow the jetta faster.
The civic is more reliable, better on gas, and cheaper to own. Also Honda's are built much better than Vw's.
