Anyone else at the end of their rope with traffic?
I commute from Centereach to Old Westbury everyday. On average it's about an hour going in, an hour and 15 coming home.
Today it took me almost an hour and a half to get here!! No accidents, no one changing a tire on the side of the road, traffic just seems to be getting worse and worse on LI.......And after the 4 1/2 hours it took me to get home Friday I'm developing some serious road rage! Just had to vent!

Im so glad you posted this. I travel from Valley Stream to Williston Park. Its a 15 min trip at the most. Lately I notice the traffice in Nassau is so freaking bad.
Its been taking an hour lately. I hate it

you know what might help...try a different route...like taking 25A...yes more lights...but its very scenic...and it may take you the same amount of time

I drive from East Meadow to Borough Park Brooklyn when I go to work and I have to leave 2 hours early in order to get there on time! I leave at 5 pm to make it there by 7 pm. I am getting SO tired of the Belt Pkwy, I need to get an apartment in Brooklyn!

We take exit 68 to exit 40 on the LIE, my poor DH is doing it alone while I am on maternity leave. He can't wait for me to go back to work so we can go in the HOV lane.

Can I join the I Hate Traffic club too? I commute from Centereach to Port Washington every day and it usually takes an hour and twenty minutes. Today it was two hours and ten minutes. My legs and butt were numb by the time I got to work.
Halloween bride, where in Centereach do you live? I'm over by Eastwood, off of Nichols. You can FM if you don't want to say publicly.

I also have a long commute, Sound Beach to Farmingdale. If I go during an 'off' time I can make it un just under an hour, but on average on a good day its at least an hour drive in the morning, and an hour and 15 in the pm. It sucks. Today took me 2 hours almost.
Its only 30 miles... jeesh!

I live off of Holbrook Road, just past Holbrook Road School. We both have a hike and ahalf to work!

it takes me 35 minutes to 45 minutes in the morning to get to work. I live in lynbrook and work in port washington. I dont take parkways to work...but my commute home is the northern state, to the meadow brook, to the southern state....onto lynbrook...It usually only takes me 20 minutes to get home. I get out of work at 3pm...and the roads arent bad at that time...My only complaint that I have is the traffic on sunrise hwy, and Merrick road.....It is getting unbearable...

Who heard about the pack of dogs loose on the Southern State this morning? Now that's something you don't hear in the traffi creport everyday. Were they kidding? You would have thought there were wild elephants on the LIE the way traffic was moving this morning!

I feel for all of you with the traffic! I give you alot of credit!
I am however at the end o fmy rope with the LIRR! I am going to send them a dictionary and highlight on time (I am not even sure if thats in teh dictionary so I may have to doctor it up a bit) becuase I am so sick of paying $226 a month to get to work late and get home late and ride in a smelly/dirty car with obnoxious conductors!!!
Sorry to jump on your thread!

It's okay Kelly, it sucks to get around regardless of how you do it. I winced when I heard about the recent fare hike and the impact it has on the monthly tickets. I did the LIRR for four years and I don't miss that either.

Re: Anyone else at the end of their rope with traffic?
I'm sorry but I'm going to jump on this thread too. The friggin train has been so late going to and from work this week I think I'm going to have a nervous breakdown. I'm averaging 3 hours each way and I am about to lose it.
Re: Anyone else at the end of their rope with traffic?
I know commuting sucks, but I guess thats urban sprawl...forcing everyone out east...yet they still work west...

Re: Anyone else at the end of their rope with traffic?
Unbelievable!! It took me three hours on Friday to get from Melville to Patchogue and on a 'good' day it takes at least an hour to an hour and a half to get in and out. Yesterday I had a client visit in Port Washington and it took 2 1/2 hours from Patchogue to Port Washington. NO ACCIDENTS, nothing!!! Just lazy asses who didn't want to move!!
Last night I had a doctors appointment in Smithtown (from Melville) and it took almost an hour!! The doctors were concerned about my spike in blood pressure - I attributed it to ROAD RAGE!!!
I don't know if it's worse because of the holiday shoppers and crap but I can't take it!! I'm about ready to throw in the towel and move off Long Island!
