I'm making a scrapbook for my sister. She's getting married this spring. I'm doing a page about our middle/highschool hair and I swear I'm gonna fall off the chair laughing! HOW did we all think that 'BIG hair' was cool!?! and Man was our hair BIG. In Central New York, we called this phenomenon mall bangs, I've also heard it called mall hair, claw bangs hair-bear hair, etc. You'd recognize it if you saw it, all you need is a curling iron, blow dryer and a ful can of Aqua Net Extra Super hold *the pink can, aerosol of course!! Screw the ozone layer! We both used to spend at least an hour everymorning doing our do's and you couldn't mess em up even if you tried. Hard as a rock. Teachers always wanted to touch my hair because they couldn't believe how high/hard it was! Will anyone else fess up to having this hairstyle? I know I'm not alone, until now MY pictures were hidden away! Who else had 'BIG hair' lol?

I had it, it was really the only style that I could ever pull off with my hair..it is too thick for that pin staight look

I had huge hair too! I had the works, with the bangs.
I remember the boys used to hold contests as to which girl had the highest hair.

I am very happy to say I was too young for that trend. When you all had huge hair I had several multi colored 'pony-o's' in my hair and two pairs of socks... also..those hideous clips on my HUGE t shirts...but I was too young for the big hair..thank god

We now refer to it as the 'Cockatoo 'Do'.... Does anyone remember the rock group Vixen? Yeah - the lead singer's hair was my inspiration.....
