Anyone else freaking out about how they're going to pay for their wedding?!

So, as every day passes and I get closer and closer to my wedding date I freak out more and more about how much money this is going to cost us compared to how much money we actually have!! I've decided that I hate Long Island and I wish I lived in Kansas or something because I'm sure it's a lot cheaper to get married there! How do I have the wedding of my dreams when everything is sooooo expensive! There's only 7 1/2 months to go! I think I'm freaking out! I need to hit the Lotto or something! Or rob a bank....or sell my body on the streets!
PLEASE tell me someone else understands how I feel so I know I'm not the only lunatic worried about paying for a wedding!!!!

Don't worry...you're not alone! I worry about this too. I worry about how I'm going to pay for everything! What helps me is to make a plan on how much money to save each month. This way I have a better idea of exactly whatI can afford.

ok, first, PLEASE do not jump to prostitution. so not worth it. yes, i know you are kidding.....but i understand your frustration. we have been saving like fiends since last year and have a nice amt saved. try to come up with a way to save a certain amt a month, $400 or $500. its easier then trying to save 10k a month.

just keep it calm, it can be done

Ahhhhh!!!!!! thankyou! I'm starting to feel much better. I'm glad I'm not the only one! It's just so stressful! Me and FI were talking about it this weekend and realized that our wedding is less than 8 months away. Thank goodness he's so calm. He's not even worried. He has an amazing outlook. He's just like 'Sue, don't worry it will all work out and everything is going to be great.' So, if worse comes to worse we'll be living in a cardboard box after we get married. no problem.

You are totally not alone.....we actually argue about this topic because my FH seems so relaxed about the whole situation as if this money will just land in our laps, lol.

I just know that something will work out.

OMG YES!! This last week was BAD for me about this topic!!

Then I broke it all down.

I wrote out all the $$ owed or to pay, for the wedding. If I was not sure, I estimated. Then I put it in date order, like paying the florist 1 mo before then 1 week before, paying the DJ 1 mo before and the day of, etc.

Then I sectioned it off by month and totaled.

So, I will need to pay X$$ in March, X$$ in April, X$$ in May, etc. This made it easier ti handle. Not saying I have 10 months to come up with 20something thousand dollars.

ETA: We also agreed that our tax returns will go RIGHT to the wedding!

Um, I feel guilty when I buy a replacement mascara, since I've been trying so hard to save money. But that's were I draw the line, yes, mascara is important and yes, it is needed everyday, hence I will buy it! lol

your not alone on this one....right now were having a little bit of a rough patch and we just keep trucking along...but it does cross my mind.

Lately I have been thinking about it a little. We had a good amount saved and deicded to pay the hall alot of money so that we could focus on the other stuff and not worry about a huge payment to the hall at the end.

Then with gettingmy ring reset and me not having a paycheck in the summer (well I got the bulk check in June) we are dwidling very LOW in the savings account. I think once sept starts we wil be back on track.

You are absolutely not alone!!! I can't believe how much money we're spending for this one very special day, I never imagined it would be like this!!

Every day I feel like we're falling deeper and deeper into the hole, you girls have no idea, but I just try to keep my head up and pray it all works out!!

The other day, out of nowhere my FI bought a Mega Millions ticket, seems to be our only hope but needless to say we didn't win.

I've been freaking out since I booked the hall.

I save some each month, the problem is that just when you saved a bit, there's another deposit due to a vendor or another payment to be made. I know it all works out in the end, but the simultaneous spending and saving messes with your head.

Oh your not alone I have been freaking out about it as well. I have been thinking how are we gonna do this we are also putting together our daughters 1st b-day party we are having it in my mothers backyard but its still costing money. Then the holidays are coming up and we both have big families. FH says it will all work out in the end and everything will be fine I am glad he thinks so cuz I don't know h ow its all gonna work out I think about it all the itme

ugh i hear you about the holidays....i am hoping our fam takes pity on us and understands the lack of gifts! Fh and I ALWAYS overdue christmas so it will be a shock for everyone lol

We argue to. I think about where the $$ is going to come from every day, and more than once a day. In addition the everyday bills, credit cards, cell phone, rent, etc.

It's enough for a breakdown...

so far no, but as the holidays come closer yes. I wanted to try and have almost everything paid off by the new year, except those that are to be paid the day of. I've already told the family that it's going to be a very skimpy christmas this year.

try not to panic, the more stressed you are the more likely you are to become a bridezilla and have no fun with the rest of your planning. we all wait our whole lives for 'our wedding day', its better to try and relax and have fun with it, the best you can

You are most definately not alone!! I think about this at least once a day and I find it funny that all the FH (mine included) says dont worry it will work out

What I have tried to do is to budget XX amount of $$s every month and make payments I am also not booking every vendor right now (still considering limo and video)
