So I understand that the economy is horrible now but everyone knew about my wedding for more than a year now. We are now 11 days away and it doesn't look like I am going to have a bachelorette party. At first everone said they were doing this and doing that and how much fun it's going to be and now everyone is like they do not have any money and some are even saying I make more money than them and can't expect them to come up with it. I hope I am not being selfish but I have 10 bridesmaids. If everyone put 50 dollars that's 500 that could def throw a great party esp since it would be at my MOH house. I am just bummed because they got me so excited and now everyone is backing out. I was even trying to be hopeful that they were just trying to surprise me but that's def not the case. I just feel like telling them to forget it and go to a spa with my sister and mother.

Re: anyone else having bridesmaids issues
well thats no fair. id be pissed. i mean they've known for so long that they should have been prepared. and if they weren't able to dish out the money to be in the wedding they shouldnt have accepted when you asked them. i would be disappointed. even if you all just went out bowling or to play pool. they should have arranged something. even $20 a person and it would be great. i would talk to your MOH and see if she can convince everyone to still throw u a bacheloratte party.

Re: anyone else having bridesmaids issues
Mymoh has been contacting everyone but she only has about 3 or 4 people willing to do it. I'm just going to do dinner with the girls who has been there throughout this thing and then go to a club. Thanks

Re: anyone else having bridesmaids issues
I understand the economy is bad and money might be tight- but what would it take to take you to Dinner and then go back to you MOH house and have a girls night in or something? It might not be your ideal party- but if they did at least that much for you I am sure you would appreciate it. I don't think you are being selfish at all- Maybe if they were up front about this from the beginning you wouldn't have gotten your hopes up.
I am really sorry- I am sure there are other things you rather be worried about 11 days before your wedding.
Sorry again!

Re: anyone else having bridesmaids issues
Im sorry they should throw you one, I want to go away ( vegas) but dont think that will be happening ( i would have paid for my own ticket) but my friends dont have the money to go themseleves, we will most likly spend the night in the city, I would talk to your MOH and ask her if you girls can just hangout at her house and cook dinner and drink wine, maybe all spend the night it would most likly have a ton of fun and it would not cost so much then I would still go to the spa with your mom and sister

They still might surprise you.. never know! Hope so for you! but i def know how u feel, my fiance will be going to Vegas with his guys who will be paying for everything. 2 of my bm wont be 21, the rest are just coming up with corny cheap ideas. Whatever! You cant really ask for something in particular but when the time comes around for their wedding you can remember how they were during yours ; )

Re: anyone else having bridesmaids issues
I don't have issues because I really don't expect much from them. I told them all I just want them there for me that day and I understand with all the money that's involved and don't want them to feel pressured. My friend went to AC for her bachelorette and for one I didn't have the money, nor could I go because I had a weekend class. On top of that for her bridal shower I had committed to be at the wedding of a really close college friend out of state so I missed that too. I know she wasn't happy with me, but there was nothing else I could do. Anyway, IMO if you have high expectations you're probably going to be disappointed. I know we all want the best bachelorette party, bridal shower, etc., but I do believe it gets expensive for them and I get that.

Re: anyone else having bridesmaids issues
i was actually just having an issue tonight. my moh has never been to a bridal shower before so she has absolutely no idea what's going on. She even asked me if she could charge all the guests at the door. I'm hoping she figures this out. I'm gonna hint at my mom to help her out.
Hope is all works out for you and that they really are jsut surprising you.

I hope this all works out for you and I am TERRIBLY sorry that you have to go through this! ESPECIALLY with so much time these girls had to save $$ and with the wedding 11 days away.
I MIGHT be able to help though if you are interested. I own an 'adult toy' company that I do parties and stuff. I bring the products if anyone wants to buy something but if you ended up wanting to do this then I would do this with the frame of thought that no one is going to buy anything. My heart goes out to you and if you are interested or want more details FM me.
Good luck with it all!

Re: anyone else having bridesmaids issues
That is ridiculous and I would be PISSED. That is their duty to throw you a bach party. It doesn't even have to be expensive. They could throw you a passion party and then go out for dinner and drinks.

Re: anyone else having bridesmaids issues
Awww, i'm so sorry this is happening. It really does suck!
I think most of had issues with our BM and it really ***** that they let you down. I had to convince my own MOH to throw me a shower at the beach and she resisted b/c she hated the idea. I also wanted to go to Cancun for my bachelorette but that isn't happening.
It ***** when people are selfish and spend money on things for themselves in a heartbeat but can't seem to save money for you.
I say you try to make the best of it, go out with friends and family that will be there for you.

That is crazy. I'd be mad.
I wouldn't care if we just had a wine night at someones house. They need to do SOMETHING to acknowledge you getting married.
Plus there are so many easy cheap things to do... have a passion party even. People pay for what they buy - get some alcohol involved and you'll have an amazing time just looking at everything and laughing.

Re: anyone else having bridesmaids issues
I know the feeling, my maid of honor told me she did not want to wear the dress I pick in addition to the length and all that stuff. It is your day and its suppose to be special and you must be happy.
I decided to kick her out of my party since she had given me to much of a headache and more stress then I needed.
My party now is fine and everyone is happy especially me, for my ex-maid of honor, it is her lose for not being able to share this special day.
