anyone else having issues choosing a honeymoon place?

Original post by ILOVEBRIAN2008

we cant agree on anything! first of all we are getting married in august..so that rules out some places to begin with..fh basically just wants to go to europe..and i basically want to go anywhere but there (no offense to anyone going there- i juts dont want to) i want to be able to relax on a beach with a tropical drink in my hand when we want but be able to go and do a bunch of activities if we want..i know that there are some beaches in europe but i feel like its just not the same..i wanted water activities (swimming with dolphins, parasailing, etc..) and im sure if we do go to europe there will not be any relaxing on beaches..anyone having the same kind of issues? anyone have any suggestions?

HAve you thought about maybe an alternative destination like Costa Rica or Brazil??? I know they're not really HM places but it may be a blending of what the 2 of u want....

I'm going to Costa Rica...for that reason mostly because we wanted somewhere a little different. There's relaxing on the beach and being lazy (my favorite pastime) or you can go zip lining, white water rafting, surfing...they have volcanoes, beautiful rainforest's, and so much more!

We're seriously considering Costa Rica as well. I know it is supposedly rainy season but we've been told if we stick with the Northwest/Pacific region the weather should not be much of an issue.

The only part of wedding planning FH has been into is the HM and he chose Disney. I didn't want to go to Disney for the HM. We are going there in Jan. because a friend has a timeshare. SHe;s a DVC member. So now he's upset because he wanted to go for the HM.

that's funny, FH and I had the same argument, he really wants to do europe which sounds amazing, but not as my honeymoon. I want to be able to lie on the beach for a week without having to go sightseeing or running around. I think we pretty much agreed on Hawaii, have you suggested that to your FH? Tell him you both can do Europe next year

yeah i tried that..hes absolutely stuck on europe..i suggested hawaii and costa rica and gave him a list of things we can do at each (hes afraid of being bored) and still nothing...he basically ONLY wants to go to europe...looks like im gonna have to look into going to 2 places maybe..an island first to get what i want then europe for him uhhhh i dunno

Maybe you can do greece? There are plenty of gorgeous beaches and there's a lot of amazing placing to sightsee there too. You can have your cake and eat it too

i dont think theres any beachy activities to do there tho...but it is beautiful!

greece is gorgeous and they do have activities...they have parasailing in greece, scuba diving, jet skiing and many more...if you go to sites and look it up youll see what activities there are

yeah you can find TONS of things to do in greece. Theres so many tours you can do and alot of water sports, they have so many beaches in greece so they will focus alot on this...i think theres even caves you can go see and things like that. Plus the beaches are nice, EVERYBODY gets their own chair there and umbrella, its not a thing where you go lay on the sand and many of the beaches will have waiters to serve you, alot of beaches in europe are like that...ive been to the black sea, and its great bc you have all these waiters and you can order lunch and they bring you small white plastic tables for you things, i even see ppl order bottles of champagne and things to sit on the beach and drink lol

If you go to Greece you can leave your top at home!! A lot of them go topless there. But I know people that went there on their honeymoon also and loved it. Definitely do Santorini if you go.
I'm dying to go to Costa Rica but you have to be careful what time of year you go there... good luck!!

Re: anyone else having issues choosing a honeymoon place?

we're doing spain.. barcelona and madrid.. and maybe include toledo or seville.. depending on time.. the location is a bit unconventional..

FH REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted europe.. after talking to a few people, found out spain had beautiful beaches to relax and chill and stuff.. and we're into arts and culture and stuff.. of course being our HM.. we wanted some romance as well..

we're still on the process of booking.. but so far so good..

Re: anyone else having issues choosing a honeymoon place?

I completely understand...my FH and I are compromising too. I want to do greece and he wants an island which I wouldnt mind either. So, we decided to go on our 1 year anniv. to greece since we both want to relax on our HM. If you are absolutely stuck going to Europe, def do the Greek Islands or the Amalfi coast in Italy...thats the best bet to still be able to be by the beach!

Good luck!

You should look into islands below the hurricane belt. Try any of the ABC islands.
