anyone else having issues choosing a honeymoon place?
Original post by ILOVEBRIAN2008
we cant agree on anything! first of all we are getting married in august..so that rules out some places to begin with..fh basically just wants to go to europe..and i basically want to go anywhere but there (no offense to anyone going there- i juts dont want to) i want to be able to relax on a beach with a tropical drink in my hand when we want but be able to go and do a bunch of activities if we want..i know that there are some beaches in europe but i feel like its just not the same..i wanted water activities (swimming with dolphins, parasailing, etc..) and im sure if we do go to europe there will not be any relaxing on beaches..anyone having the same kind of issues? anyone have any suggestions?

that's funny, FH and I had the same argument, he really wants to do europe which sounds amazing, but not as my honeymoon. I want to be able to lie on the beach for a week without having to go sightseeing or running around. I think we pretty much agreed on Hawaii, have you suggested that to your FH? Tell him you both can do Europe next year
yeah i tried that..hes absolutely stuck on europe..i suggested hawaii and costa rica and gave him a list of things we can do at each (hes afraid of being bored) and still nothing...he basically ONLY wants to go to europe...looks like im gonna have to look into going to 2 places maybe..an island first to get what i want then europe for him uhhhh i dunno

HAve you thought about maybe an alternative destination like Costa Rica or Brazil??? I know they're not really HM places but it may be a blending of what the 2 of u want....
yup tried that he only wants europe...its rainy season in costa rica anyways but i suggested it just to see if i can convince him to so someplace else but nope

Maybe you can do greece? There are plenty of gorgeous beaches and there's a lot of amazing placing to sightsee there too. You can have your cake and eat it too

I'm not sure about beach activities but there definitely are beaches where you can relax for a day or two, and Mikonos (sp?) has a great night life

We're having trouble too. We really wanted to go to Europe but decided to go for a house so it's out of the question. We are now looking at something inexpensive, maybe all inclusive and we have no clue.

It took us the longest to agree on a place! We went awhile w/o even talking about it bc we weren't making any progress.
I wanted to go to the Carribean but FH HATES the beach so what would be the point? Then one day he suggested California, as a joke, and it just dawned on us!

Re: anyone else having issues choosing a honeymoon place?
it'll come together!! fh and i had several SEVERAL honeymoon discussions.. he wanted excitement, thrills, sightseeing, parasailing, and karoke, and jet sking and deep sea diving. and zip lining.. ... i didn't want to WORK while on my vacation.. i told him no fishing, hiking, camping, looking, seeing, viewing, understanding.. nothing..
i want to sit down and watch the sun come up and go down with a frosty drink in my hand.
we settled on a cruise and land combination. we'll go to a variety of places and then end it with my slumming it on a beach in jamaica for 5 days..

Re: anyone else having issues choosing a honeymoon place?
Have you spoken to a travel agent? They might be able to tell you about a secluded island in europe and ta da, you have the best of both worlds! Or, maybe your FH can tell you what he's looking forward to most about going to Europe and the travel agent can help you find alternative places that would still give him what he wants. Try talking to Travel Tom from American Express....he might be able to help and doesn't charge a fee for his services

Re: anyone else having issues choosing a honeymoon place?
We had some trouble deciding so we did out budget/dates/ideas for a couple of places to see what made the most sense and what were the most excited about....we ended up deciding that we couldn't afford our first choice (Hawaii), but plan B really grew on both of us as we thought about it....maybe if you look at things you would actually be able to do in either place, and get a better idea what it will really be like, one of you will decide that the other person's trip sounds awesome! worth a shot! For us, making it more real really helped us get excited about a trip that we originally were just so-so about!
HTH!

My friend went to Greece, Naxos and Santorini on her honeymoon and loved it. They totally relaxed on beaches and they went on sailing excursions etc!
