Anyone else not talk to their mother? Or father?

Anyone else not talk to their mother? Or father?

I know that there was a post a few weeks ago about how often people were talking to their mother. I haven't spoken to my mother in three months and it looks like it is going to be for the rest of my life. The relationship we had was toxic and so ungratifying. She did not care about me at all and I always came last on her list of things to concern herself with. Always a little cold and not maternal, I really hoped that she would be involved in my engagement and help me plan my wedding. But she simply chose not to get involved and even came late to my wedding. She knows nothing about my life and is okay with the bad relationship we have. I am not.

I was wondering how other people adjusted to not talking to their mothers or fathers? Was it hard? How do you do it? What if you have siblings? Do you set boundaries with them on what they can and cant talk about? Basically, how can I make not talking to my mother work for me?

Sorry!

Mr brother, sister, and I do not speak to our father anymore. It is easier for us now because he moved to Kansas after he met someone on the internet. When he lived here it was a lot harder because he lived in the same town and we would run into him occasionally. At first when we stopped speaking to him it was really hard and upsetting for us but after a little time passed we all realized we are better off without him in our lives. I don't want to get into the whole story about what him... but to make a long story short we are all much happier and less stressed now. We just recently cut off his entire family also. Now I can't wait to get married and change my last name!

My father is a dead beat! I don't speak to him.
I attempted to reunite and make things better 2 Christmas' ago and it just bombed. I was so uncomfortable and realized that some things....you just have to 'Be and Let Be'

Good Luck to you and I am sorry!

in the same boat....I prefer my stepmother over my real mother. She tends to be narcissistic and selfish. Then when I finally od talk to her, she says I should be calling her. She bottomed out on promises for the wedding, neglected us (but not badly) growing up and countless other things. I do love her, but I don't like her.
