YES! I do not get them often, but OMG, they are horrible! Makes me want to chop the top of my head off to let the pressure out!

Re: Anyone else suffer from.....
Nothing over the counter works for me....I have been getting them since I was 8yrs. old. They are hereditary (sp?) on my mom's side of the family.
I have had cat scans, mri's, been to the national headache clinic.....done it all!!!!!!!!!!
Now, they are using botox in the treatment of migraines....b/c it paralyzes the muscles or something....weird huh?
You could get rid of wrinkles and Migraines at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Anyone else suffer from.....
You know, there was a whole other thread about this the other day. I think on the newlywed board. I also get them, but knock wood (I'm knocking on my head right now), I haven't had one in awhile. I throw up from them and when it gets to that point, the only thing that works for me is to inject Imitrex. I also take the Imitrex tablet when it first comes on. For over the counter medicine, I like the Excedrin Migraine. The only thing that really works is to go to sleep for hours in a dark room, with the ceiling fan on and a cold compress on my head and total silence!Aren't they the worst things?

Re: Anyone else suffer from.....
I second Excedrin Migraine. It helps if I catch it right when it starts. If I have one in full force nothing helps

Re: Anyone else suffer from.....
Bearsbabe_113....you sound exactly like me.....I have been injecting imitrex since before the pill form was even available!!!!
I throw up from them too and it's the WORST!
There was something on NBC this morning about a new drug out for migraines that you take every day to prevent them, but I missed it - My mom told me about it.....But I don't really like the idea of taking something EVERY DAY!
Have you ever tried beta blockers???

Re: Anyone else suffer from.....
Oh Sage, I feel your pain!!!! It's a never-ending cycle because when you throw up, it makes your head pound even more!!! I used to take Amytriptiline (sp?) everyday and that made me NUTS!! I was soooo depressed on that, there were days I wanted to jump in front of the train, so I finally told the wacky dr. I saw at that time, that I didn't want to take that everyday, I wanted something that I could take at the on-set of my migraine, but at that time there wasn't anything else out on the market. But I did change drs. after that because he was an idiot and said I was getting them because I worked for lawyers
While that might be the case, working for drs is no bargain either!!! I've never taken any beta blockers, that I know of. Do they work?

Re: Anyone else suffer from.....
That's terrible Chippatrid!!! I'm sorry to hear that....Bearsbabe - no they don't work for me, just thought maybe they did for someone else.....They are anti-depressants but for me the were the opposite....who knows why they are supposed to work for migraines....
Have you tried that cold patch that's out that you peel off and put on your head (temples i think) ??? That is a good alternative to an ice pack if you are not home....
I HATE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
