Anyone elses girls refusing to get their makup

professionally done? I am getting mine done & told them how much the cost would be if they wanted it. I didn't tell them they had to, but a few girls said they refuse to pay a makeup artist that much (although I didn't think it was all that much)...
I am just wondering how it will look in the pictures if some girls get airbrushed & other's don't?

I have never been a BM, but most likely I would refuse have someone else do my make up, b/c I don't like how many of them do it.

I am doing my own for the wedding for that specific reason and Iwouldn't want to feel self concious or ugly if someone else had done make up on me and I hated it.

i am sure it will look fine.

i did my own makeup for my friends wedding and you could not tell the difference.

my mom is refusing... in the past she has used red lip liner on her eye brows, and black running mascara.. so i'll have to talk her into it somehow

I have been a BM several times and never paid to get my makeup professionally done. But I think I do it well myself.

3 of 6 of my BM's got theirs done and of the other 3 one barely wore anything and it was fine in pictures. I don't think you should worry at all.

Don't worry, it'll be fine! I don't think ANY of my girls are getting their makeup done...some are not even having their hair done. I don't mind and I can't really say anything even if I did since it's their $$, not mine.

I had my make up done professionally, and non of my girls wanted to. I didn't force any one to get it done. I f I had offered to pay it might have been different

I honestly don't think it made any difference to the day. None of the pictures of them are close up. JMO

I agree, dubliner..... only me FH & our mom's will get close ups, and we are all getting it done. I think I am just beginning to enter into my ridiculous panicing phase!

BTW... the pics are gorgeous... I love the dresses!

Having said that my MIL got made up and my mom didn't. You can see the difference in the picteres, but its just not my moms style

I can see what you are saying... she is very glowing, though!

My grandmother never wears makeup, but she is going to wear foundation & a bit of eye makeup & a clear gloss..... I think that you can scale it down even if it is professionally done. - I hope anyway.

i reallydo not care much if they don't want too, BUT my MOH said she did not want to pay it when I mentioned it. This upsets me,,,,,BECAUSE SHE's MY SISTER. The only one I have, and I know I will want pics of my mom (who's getting her done) and me. I don't want her to looked washed out.

My MOH is my only sister also... luckily, she has agreed to pay. I say luckily b/c we look so much alike, you will definately be able to tell (We would look like a before and after picture!)

I know that if I was spending a lot of money for the wedding ,and the shower, shoes, pocketbook, shower, engagement gift, and shower gift as well as bachlorette party, I would not want to be told I must get my make up professionally done. If I could not afford it, I would tell the bride, and I would also maybe get it done thru one of those make overs for free at the nicer stores counters, or try to do my own make up. This is just my opinion, and I do not mean to offend anyone.

I was a BM and it was just another added expense to me. Why don't you have all the girls meet at your house and do each other's makeup?

Here is an excerpt from an email I got from a make up person. She was telling me about prices

'I tend to use less makeup for bridesmaids because they don't want to take away from the brides day and therefore don't want such a dramatic look. They also don't take as many pictures and as many closeups so there is no need for camouflougaing, contouring, highlighting, shadowing etc.. '

So for BM's I really dont see a huge deal if they get it done or not. My girls are all pretty both with and without make up so if they just want to wear a little lip gloss or go full scale doesnt matter to me.

i think bridesmaids are fine doing their own makeup... or maybe one bridesmaid can do the other bridesmaid...
it also depends on the girl... some girls dont need any makeup some others makeup really makes the difference...
me personally I wont ask the girls to get their makeup done..

I was really just worried about how it would look in the pics.....I definately do not want to make my girls spend any more $$.

My girls didn't and I didn't 'force' them, only because I couldn't offer to pay. If they're footing the bill, it's difficult to insist they do anything they didn't want to do.

My girls each had their hair professionally done, and they all paid themselves, so I couldn't ask for make up too.

BTW - they all looked beautiful anyway!
