We stayed at Couples Swept Away in Negril, which was AMAZING! I would definitely recommend it. Couples has another resort in Montego Bay. I didn't love the Montego Bay area--it is more busy and congested since that is the metropolitan area, and where the airport is. Plus, the water is the bay, not the ocean, so not as crystal clear. ![]()

We went over Christmas in 2003 and stayed in the Holiday Inn in Montego Bay. I definitely would not recommend staying there.

We stayed at a Sandals in Montego Bay about 5 years ago..I gotta say we didn't love it. All I remember is that the drive to and from the airport was pretty long and depressing. The food wasn't great, and you can't really go out of the confines of the resort. I hear that Negril is pretty nice, but thats even a longer drive from the airport...![]()

Negril was an hour drive from the airport. Not bad at all. Got to see the Jamaican scenery.

We stayed at Sandals in Montego Bay. The airport is only maybe 10 minutes from the resort. Actually that was one of our pet peeves...you could hear planes very loudly & the trees blew every half hour or hour.
The resort IS very nice, however, the food was so/so--lots of buffets. I remember the Italian restaurant being good. Also there was at least 1 wedding a day on the beach![]()
There were also activities all day long (IF you chose to participate).
Obviously it is all couples, mostly in their 20's/30's.
We stayed IN the resort the entire time.

We stayed at Breezes Runaway Bay (just a little further than Montego Bay) The resort was kind of small and I wouldn't reccomend it for an overly romatic vacation, but if you like to party while you're on vacation this would be a good spot. We went for our friends wedding and there were like 60 of us. We had a compete blast!

We were supposed to stay at Sandals Montego Bay but they overbooked and sent us to Sandals Negril. They upgraded us to a honeymoon suite (this was before we were married). We ended up at Montego Bay the last couple of days of our vacation. IMO, Negril although further out from the airport, was nicer. Much nicer property and rooms. You can't go wrong with either, however. I loved loved Jamaica; it was one of my favorite trips.

Love Jamaica. Before I was married I stayed at the Jamaica Grande which was good for the money (very cheap) We stayed there 2x and had a great time. That was in Ocho Rios about 1.5 hrs from the airport. Yeah the drive stinks, but the fun was worth it.
Then after we were married we stayed at the Royal Plantation which is also in Ocho Rios. This resort was more upscale and fabulous! It's a part of Sandals.

The two best places to stay in Jamaica are at The Caves in Negril and Ritz Carleton in Montego Bay. We ended up staying at The Caves because of all of the good reviews we read.

I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, but I had to add that I have also been to Couples Swept Away in Negril and had a fabulous time -- What an amazing, relaxing, vacation!!!

Yes Negrils beaches are MUCH nicer then montego bay.

Yes, Negril beaches are the best on Jamaica. I am going to Sandals Negril on April 9. Couples Negril is beautiful and so is Grand Lido Negril. I've seen them both.
