Not sure if this is considered PC to talk about and if I will be opening up a can of worms but...
Has anyone ever felt like you had lost your faith? The religiou beliefs you grew up with didn't feel that strong? Maybe you began to doubt God a bit?
I was raised Catholic and got married with a full Catholic Nuptial Mass and recently between my job loss and my grandmother's passing, I haven't felt close to God or feel any really strong connection to my faith.
I know a lot of people don't have a religion or maybe don't practice it, but those who have a strong faith, have you ever felt this way

Yes, I have felt that way. Not because anything particularly bad has happened in my life, actually so far I feel very lucky... But just because sometimes I find everything I was taught as a Catholic to be extremely hard to believe. I'm still working things out for myself. I'm definitely at a stage of questioning everything

oh completely. I was raised catholic all my life but then as an adult I realized that I didn't agree with the institution. I consider myself to be a christian ot trying to become one. My dh is definitely more into the bible and really studying it. I'm not quite there yet but I know that my daughter will be baptized in a christian church.

Yeah. I was about 13 or 14, I had just had my confirmation and I was actually a lector in church when it all fell apart for me. At that same time, my grandmother was getting sick and my mom was getting more and more religous and trying tpo push me into it, and I really discovered that a lot of it didn't make sense, which is why since then I've been studying a lot of different religions, and I decided that no religion is right or wrong, but they're all created, or at least perpetuated by man, so they are inherently flawed.
I think a good book to read when you've kind of lost your way spiritually is 'Conversations with God' by neale Donald Walsh. I know some people may think he's a nut (i am NOT usually into spiritual books or self help gurus or anything like that), but I think the book made a LOT of sense when I read it, and it helped me to understand a lot of things in my life better. Maybe you should pick it up. There are 3 or more of them now, but start with the 1st one.
Also, I wouldn't worry, I think everyone comes to a question of faith at LEAST once in thier lives, and I know you'll definitely find your way back.

Re: Anyone ever lose your faith?
I have.
Back in '92, my sister lost her baby in utero. She wasn't diagnosed in time (gestational diabetes) and he had a bowel movement. The muconium poisoned him, and she had to give birth to a still born. I completely lost faith in God, and questioned everything...Why? How could He let this happen? It was an extremely difficult time, for all of us, not to mention what my sister went thru. It broke my heart to see her suffer the way she did. (i even cursed Him at times.. )
I realize now, that God's will has purpose. We may not understand why sometimes things happen, but everything happens for a reason. Everything is in God's hands, and He knows what He's doing.

i know it is hard when you are going through rough times to doubt your faith...
This is when you faith should be the strongest!!! But i know it is hard
But imo...good and bad things are always going to happen..that has nothing to do with God that is life.

I don't know if I have lost my faith but I def do not think about it to much. I was raised Irish Catholic & married in the church but I do not agree with a lot of the 'rules' of the church. I have no interest in researching other religions either. So I guess I am on my own.

Yes, I have. I don't know when it happened but in all honesty it was never very strong. Not getting married in church made it even worse. For myself, I feel I can get by without it but I worry about my future children and how my lack of faith will affect them.

Re: Anyone ever lose your faith?
I guess I am just confused these days. I don't question the Catholic church, exactly. If anything, I just feel like I doubt there is a higher being in charge of everything. I doubt that 'He' has a reason for everything. I don't see a valid explanation for things that happen and I feel lost.
I know I am showing my soul to a group of virtual strangers, but I guess I am just so lost that I am looking for a way to get back on track...

Hang in there, I know it easier said than done but everything does happen for a reason. You will find that job that fulfills you in every sense.

I'm not sure what I believe, but I do think there tends to be some kind of cosmic interference just when you think it couldn't get any worse
Hang in there!

Re: Anyone ever lose your faith?
Honestly? Whenever I feel bad about my life, I think about the people who have it so much worse. There those in my family (getting divorced, 3 kids, living with mom and 2 brothers in a 1 bedroom apartment), those in America in general (homeless, starving, sick, etc.) and then those in the world, like the 5 year old boy I sponsor in Zambia who's lost both this parents and lives in a tin shack with his aunt. Even at it's worse, I am so lucky to be here, in this moment, with the man I love, in a nice apartment with enough food to eat. These things in themselves are miracles.
For me, the best way to feel better when I'm feeling like crap is to help someone else. Maybe you should volunteer somewhere. I know you already teach; maybe you could volunteer to tutor. For me, my faith in God is inherently tied to my connections with other humans, and when I help others, it helps the world make a little more sense.

Re: Anyone ever lose your faith?
Growing up I was always very confused about religion and what it meant in general. I always felt a void when I was un my teens since I had no sense of religion. As I got older I started searching on my own. Dh was raised Methodist and I started attanding services w/ him wehen we started dating and I liked the church and the Christian beliefs and made them my own. I converted and accepted Jesus into my life and since then I must say I've been happier with myself because I can say that I beleive in a higher power.

Re: Anyone ever lose your faith?
I lost my faith at one point. But with the birth of my son it was all restored. I know this sounds strange...but I defintaly had guardian angels with me when he was born. So many people told me that they were praying for my little guy...and I know that God answered mine. I have a beautiful baby boy...and although tiny...he is happy and healthy. James is my personal miracle from GOD.
