make new friends?? I am in Hempstead/ Garden City and I am finding it incredibly difficult to make new friends. :( Any suggestions?
I agree--sometimes it is hard
I'm close to you though. FH actually lives in West Hempstead right down the road from St. Thomas--we should get together!
I grew up down the block from St. Thomas in W Hempstead (on Argyle Road). Did your FH grow up there? I wonder if I knew him growing up!
i have a friend that grew up (and still lives on) Argyle Rd! her name is Lauren Frawley...do you know her???
and to answer the OP, i have enough friends so i dont really feel lonely. my work takes up most of my time. BUT i'm in westbury so if anyones ever bored, just FM and we'll do lunch!

Re: Anyone finding it difficult to..
that's how I'm starting to feel. so many of my friends get a boyfriend and it's like oh bye now. I'm engaged, planning a wedding and I still want to see my friends as much as possible. but oh well. I'll never understand why girls do that, guys like when they have a real life besides them.

I would say go out to local hot spots.... like if there are any bars or coffee shops that look like the place to be at around town. I think you could probably strike up a convo there over a drink. I know it can be frustrating

Yes I agree. Once you're out of school it becomes difficult. I lost touch with a lot of people from High School. Now I'm done with college and my friends live all over so it is a lot harder to keep the friendships going.

It always a feel a little weird when you are trying to 'pick-up' a girl because you think she'd be a great friend...
I think a lot of people feel this way! You're not alone!!

Hey-I live pretty close by as well! I'll hang out!
Its definately hard to make new friends after school. The friends that I have made are either from work or through my friends. Maybe you could try going to a gym and make friends there? Or going out for a drink or coffee is always a good way to meet new people also!
Maybe we should all meet at that wine bar on Franklin Avenue in Garden City. I forget what it is called...

lOLOLOOloLOLOL...I had no Idea this thread would get so many responses. My friend and MOH (nocode on here) called me today asking me Why I needed new friends. lol.. I love you sa!
It's just that everyone I know lives in Queens, NYC of Brooklyn. Sometimes I'm too lazy to travel and want to hang out close to home.
We should plan a GTG. I am on the border line of Garden City and Hempstead. I am trying to finish up my student teaching so in the next few weeks we should organize a night/ afternoon out.
**Is anyone going to the Greek Festival in Hempstead this weekend??***
I felt bad when my friend was asking me about why I wanted new friends.. but the more the merrier right?

i'm in Carle Place and I'm finding it very hard to make new friends as well. I feel like once you're out of school it gets so hard to meet new people and spend enough time with them to decide if you're compatible to be friends.
I wish i had advice, but i dont. If you get any good advice pass it on to me!
I'll be your friend. LoL Does that sound too desperate?
I told FH that I would start going up to girls and tell them I'll be their friend!
It is definitely harder once you're out of school.
Ohh my gosh that's soo funny I live in garden city! I'll hang out!
OMG--we should all set something up then since we're in the same area!
OMG YES. we definately should. Dave and Buster's anyone??

Re: Anyone finding it difficult to..
I find it amazing how my FH can talk to anyone and make BFF in 10.2 seconds and it takes me a million years to become friends w/ someone! My friends husband is the same way and when they are together it is crazy! I live in Levittown and would be down for anything!
