Is anyone getting one or thinking of getting one???
Right now it's not an issue cuz i have some $ in savings and 1 stock but god knows what that's worth that this point (went down from 25-10k last time i checked. I refuse to look at it anymore). But nothing really really substantial yet.
BUT, somewhere down the road i will be coming into a good amount of $ from inheritances. I read in some magazine that if this plans to happen getting a pre-nup would be a good idea.
I don't really believe in the whole jinxing aspect of it. In a way it would also protect FH a little cuz i have school loans and he doesn't so god forbid something happens to me he won't be responsible for them. (right?).
So yeah.. anyone else thinking of this?

i have brought this up so many times to fh. he makes way more money than me. he also might run into some money later down the road too. i told him i would have no problem doing it.
every time i bring it up he rolls his eyes

We're not doing one. Our salaries are both in the same range, and all of our savings have been put into our wedding account. We keep using the term 'what's yours is mine now babe'!

there really is no reason for us to have one, we don't have much and the house is in both of our names

i think its something to think about if you already have $$ or own property. Also since you know that you will be coming into money Adriana, I think it should be considered.
People also get prenups if they have nothing but just in case they DO start making money to specify what would happen in the case of a separation.
i personally wont be getting one but ive got sh$t

hahaha.. i say that 'what's mine is yours' all the time to FH and he jokes around saying, 'not yet it's not lol'
My main thing is b/c of $ and property that i would be getting from family members down the road.

Nope. The thought never passed my mine and we have no reason to. We don't own anything and even though I will be coming into an inheritance in the future one day the thought of a pre-nup never passed my mine. I have student loans too but still never thought of doing this never popped up.

FH's financial advisor actually insisted that he set up one. FH was the soul beneficiary of his dads & his aunts life insurance so he came out with a large sum of money. However we are not going to do one. We both have each other listed on our 401k plans as well as on various mutual funds & cd's. we will be together 10 years by the time we say 'I Do' & we both feel that its really not necessary.

A lot of people have told me to get one because I own a house, and have a fairly good savings. My mother collected and saved all of my child support from my father since I was an infant. They paid for my college education, so I have no loans.
I am still thinking about it. FH said he would sign one, he doesnt have a problem with it.

Just so you girls know NY is not a community property state...so any inheritance that you receive is yours and yours alone in the event of a D-word (don't even wanna say it haha).
However if you plan on getting any educational degrees after you are married, those degrees become 'community' property and your FH would be eligible for a share of the increase in salary you get from having a higher degree (and vice versa)
For credibility purposes I know all this because my Mom is a lawyer

We are doing one. I heard however, they only last 7 years... is that true? Regardless, its better that way only because of all the assets and stuff. I don't mind, but I told FH he is paying the lawyer lol. Plus, FH owns a personal business. So I kind of understand from that stand point...

I would only do it if , family money will be involved or you will be getting somthing THAT should stay in the family or if one of you currently owns property and are not planning on selling but using it as an invesment! Otherwise if you do not own anything I wold not I would not worry about One stock you will just have to split it . But if you plan on making or know u will be making $$$ then you may want to have a pre-nup. This is a very touch subject and thankful FH and I have nothing LOL, We will be buying a house before we are married but thats because my credit ***** and his does not !!!

Not doing one, and even if FH asked, I would never. I have my own personal opinions on the subject.
Like someone else said, whats mine is his now and vice versa.

I have absolutely nothing except for my 401K which is not a huge amt of money. But FH on the other hand has 2 houses and a bit of savings and stocks. I asked him about a pre-nup and he actually got mad at me and refuses to get one. OK by me!

Nope. No assets to worry about and even if we did I wouldn't have done one. Always thought it was as if you were walking into a marriage prepared for it to fail.
