Anyone getting ready for ISABEL yet? (Now with MAP)
I just heard on the Weather Channel that everyone on the Eastern seaboard should start making preparations for Isabel right away, candles, batteries, stuff like that--because it looks like it will most likely hit somewhere, although they're not sure exactly where yet.
Is anyone getting prepared yet?? I don't want to be the only nut who goes out and gets batteries and bottled water tomorrow...
(already have plenty of candles thanks to my latest White Barn Candle Co. raid....)

Re: Anyone getting ready for ISABEL yet?
From Hurricane Post:
For now Im just checking the tires, the brake fluids, brake inspection and windshield wipers. Making sure both cars are up to speed on maintance.. no surprises.. Can you imagine your battery dying in a serious rain storm?? ick. We are planning to give ourselves extra time to and from work. Quick meals for dinner and just sorta wait this one out.
Being from San Antonio, we never got hit BY a hurricane.. but ALWAYS had to deal with it's blacklash. Im sorta used to it. haha
Just read the post on the tree falling issue. That is a serious concern. We've had some tough weather in the last year, trees have fallen and serious windstorms (remember 9/11/02?) This could have weaken the holdings some trees have. Try to think of alternate (several) ways to work... with floods or down trees in mind. And remember.. If you're alive and it's only water and wind.. try to stay calm and not rush into stuff. It ain't worth trying to cross a flooded area to get home. If something takes hours longer than usual... fine. It's the biggest mistake we saw in Texas.. people 'pushing it' to get somewhere. Idiots.

Out of batteries already???? OMG! Guess I'm not the only 'nut' who thinks I should prepare....
My DH and father are just blowing it off, saying the media is just playing it up for ratings. Why are men SO pig-headed sometimes??? They never believe ANYTHING until it's right up their noses.
Grrrrrrrr!

Re: Anyone getting ready for ISABEL yet?
candles in a storm like this isnt a good idea flashlights are easier and more effective. trust me if your roof flys off how in the mood will you be looking for some of your loved ones in the dark with a candle that blows out every few seconds fromt he 100 mph winds.. hehehe
guess whatim trying to say use your candles but for safetys sake ALWAYS have a flashlight it can save your life

Re: Anyone getting ready for ISABEL yet?
Thanks for the supply list. I still have my water jugs from the blackout, but I never did think of plastic utensils.
I don't know if I can steal from the cats. All we have is liver and tuna flavored stuff and I hate liver. Besides, the smell of their food would make me reconsider stealing their food.

I just thought of something for those of us who have new cars and park them outside under trees what should we do???!!!
I would hate it if a tree crushed my poor little car

Re: Anyone getting ready for ISABEL yet?
I guess all we can do is be prepared, stock up on the things that we're supposed to, and listen to news and radio for the latest info.
It's getting scary, though. This thing is POWERFUL.

I'm talking after the storm! I don't think I could get in the mood as my trees and outdoor belongings are hurling towards me and my neighbors!
