Anyone go to Gold's Gym?

I am really wanting to join a gym cause I find that I can motivate myself to go to classes at the gym (more than I can motivate myself to go running, etc). Well Gold's Gym is literally around the corner from my house, so I was thinking of joining.

Anyone know if the classes are any good? I used to go to Lucille back in HS, and I was always that girl who would turn the wrong way in step class and could never figure out the routine haha. So I want a class that works my muscles but is easy to follow :)

I don't know if this helps much, but it may give some insight. My doctor's office is in a gold's gym (weird, but it's really convenient for physical therapy). And I've worked out there a lot b/c of my PT. My experience with the gym is that it's VERY male oriented, the focus is largely on body builders and weights, etc. The cardio area is pretty small, although they just added a whole extra row of ellipticals.

As far as classes go, they seem to have some pretty cool and varied classes, but I don't think it even nears what you'd find at a NYSC or Equinox. They seem more geaed toward body building challenges.

but seriously check it out. they may have exactly the classes you want, and if it's right around the corner, it's NO EXCUSES time! Good Luck

I think I go to PT at the same place as you - 54th and Broadway??

I go to Gold's in Smithtown. My FI wanted me to switch to it, from the one in Northport. I was nervous b/c I loved my classes.

I have to say, Gold's in Smithtown has the BEST classes! I take Ultimate Fitness Conditioning with Jennifer, and she literally kicks your *** - lunges, squats, butt sit ups, etc.

Michelle T. gives good classes as well.

I would def. join if I were you, I love it!

Hi everyone--I am trying to decide betw. Gold's Gym Smithtown and NYSC Commack. I live in Commack but close to Smithtown.

NYSC has a circuit just like the ones at those 30 minute workout places. Does Gold's have that? I think that would be a great way for me to start. I recently had mono and I could probably only do a 1/2 hour workout right now. I used to love classes but I can't do a tough one just yet. I want a gym where I know I can start doing classes in a month or 2.

FH & I belong to Gold's Gym in East Northport. We like it and it is less than 2 miles from our house. It is like every gym I have ever been to - there are people of every different fitness level there trying to get in shape.

Will they let you try it out for a week?
