Now I'm even more confused, because now I've got Mexico for HM in my brain. Just wondering if anyone's ever been there or are going there? Where you are staying? Etc? Can you give me any type of feedback so I can go home and discuss with my FH? I think once I get this HM squared away, I'll be able to concentrate on the other things.

I've been to Mexico but you have to be a bit more specific where you want to go. I have been to Cozymel, Cancun and Isla Mujeres. tell me more and I'll give you more details.

I have been to Cozumel & Cancun, both are beautiful!!! I swam with the dolphins there also & I love to watch the video I have of it. The blue waters & white beaches are really something!!
Edited to say I stayed at the Sheraton & we had butler service on the beach-they brough us drinks in the ocean!!!

I went to Cancun 3 years ago with Brian. We went for a week vacation. We stayed at the carribean village (which is an allegro resort) and it was awesome. It was all inclusive, the food was really good, there was a BBQ everyday outside by the pool, at around 3pm they did this little skit near the pool that was pretty funny, if you are sitting by the pool this guy comes around with a fruit plater, there is a swim up bar in the pool, anything you want they take care of for you. its right on the beach, across the street is the mall, and everyone was so nice. The room was really good and we had a pool view.

A travel agent recommended Riviera Maya and Cancun. I haven't really thought of any place else. But Jenn your description sounds great!
I'd also consider Cozymel... Just trying to get ideas! Because I have no idea!

I was in Cancun 2 years ago and it was great. We stayed at the Cancun Palace which was nice but definitely family oriented and crowded. But I don't know if Cancun is the ideal place for a honeymoon. It could possibly be but then just don't stay at the Cancun Palace. Good luck!

Thanks! I actually found an all-inclusive adults only resort in riviera maya, which i believe is still considered cancun. I will definately have to do my research! I do not want kids hanging around!

We stayed at the Oasis and it was GREAT!! FI actually wanted to go HM there but I refuse to go back to the same place twice. Too much out there to see The oasis is one of the largest hotels on the strip. It has a very Vegas feel. It is one LARGE strip. Once you're off you are in downtown Cancun which is less desireable. It is very safe at night. You can walk ANYWHERE AT ANYTIME. You HAVE to got to Xcaret which is a natural park, Do the booze cruise to Isla Mujeres and while you are on that Island SHOP!!!! Definetly swim with the Dolphins. We also went jet skiing at Water World and did a Water Jungle Tour. We snorkeled alot and went clubbing every night.

We are going to Zihautanejo. It is 150 miles north of Acapulco on the Pacific coast. It's a cozy village where they went at the end of the Shawshank redemption. I picked it b/c they did a huge spread on it on NYTimes travel section.

We're planning on going to Playa del Carmen and stay in a bungalow. FH and I don't like an all-inclusive resorts so we're looking into a casita. They actually really inexpensive... really looking forward to seeing the ruins and going to cozumel and all the other good stuff!!!

we have been to cancun 5 times, we love it there. the best place to stay is by far the fiesta americana grand coral beach.
be careful if your going there in october though, thats right around hurricane season, check with your travel agen to be sure though.

we did Xcaret and it was great. I never went horseback riding before and I did there. I was petrified. I had a good time, but I was so petrified horseback riding. We stopped at this little part of a beach and the water was gorgous. The tour guide pointed out Cozumel and the ride back on the hourse and seeing everything was really nice. We also did the snorkling through the caves and both FI and I love doing cave explorations and that was a lot of fun.

Thanks ladies! I actually contacted a travel agent regarding hurricane season in the Carribean, she actually recommened Mexico to me. We'll see.

W've been to Cancun a couple times (we stay at Le Meridien when we go) and Cozumel for diving/day trip.
Like Theresa said, Cozumel is great for diving, but there's really not a whole hell of a lot going on there. Best to take a day trip. (My FH's parents go to Cozumel all the time b/c it's so laid back.)
Cancun has so much to offer in the activities department! You'll never run out of things to do! Horseback riding on the beach was one of my favs. And Cancun has a great nightlife!!!!

just got back from Cabo San Lucas - not a honeymoon trip though (see pictures on newlywed board). Was also there with my husband in Nov and that was a romantic trip - we had a private jacuzzi on our balcony and every night we were in there with the stars overhead and waves crashing below.
Lots to do, great weather, plenty of nightlife and beautiful beaches.
I've also been to Cancun, but prefer Cabo (further trip from NY though). You can get a hotel on the beach walking distance to everything - town, bars, restaurants, beach, etc.

FI and I went during spring break and it was wild. I didnt realize it was spring break. I was like oh cool I have a week off from school, lets go that week, DUH!
It was great though. MTV was taping and I got to hang out with them, we went to many tapings of the MTV shows like say what kareoke, and all the fun MTV stuff.
Spring Break is wild.
FI has been to cancun before he met me and non spring break time and he said its awesome. The nightlife is really great and there is so much to do.
