Re: Anyone going to Douglaston tomorrow?
I agree that it's a bit tacky of them to charge a fee. I really do like the venue though so I figured it'd be a good chance to taste the food!

I posted on another thread that even though it's $10-it's not like you're only tasting passed appetizers and getting an open bar like at some of the free shows. It's a full buffet-at least it was the last time i went. You leave there so stuffed and the food was really good.
Jericho terrace is also having a show tonight; but when i called they said there wasn't going to be any food?

Re: Anyone going to Douglaston tomorrow?
like a year ago i went to villa lombardis and it was $10 to get in but they gave you a FULL cocktail hr with like everything they have available. if i was still interested in DManor i would definitely go.

Villa Lombaridi was charging $20 this year! I thought that was a bit much so i didn't go.

I'm not thrilled that it's $10, but I'm going only because Douglaston is on my top 5 list of places to check out and I haven't been there yet...hopefully it will be worth it!

If it's a top choice; then i think it's worth the $10; you'll get to see the rooms; taste pretty much all the food. It was a lot of fun when i went the last time...

Re: Anyone going to Douglaston tomorrow?
Hey ladies!!!!!
I posted on the other thread too......
I went to the free ones and what happened was RANDOM people would be there, like families with their kids just trying to get FREE food.
So I think its better that they charge b/c Douglaston doesn't just showcase the vendors....they have a FULL buffet style dinner, anti pasta stations, carving stations, passed food, passed champagne, a cheese station, 3 CAKES!, drinks, so for $10 its def worth it.

Sam was my banquet manager which pretty much meant he was in charge of the whole event and he went above and beyond for us! I cannot recommend him enough.

Re: Anyone going to Douglaston tomorrow?
Speaking of Sam...I don't think that he's at the Douglaston anymore.
After all the great comments about him, I actually asked Thomas if there was a Sam there and he said he had left the Douglaston. Thomas is now the go to guy!

Didn't see a Sam-but i did meet with Thomas. He was really nice; went through the Menu's & everything.
