Hey ladies, FH and I were thinking of going to Italy for our HM. We would only be able to go for 8 days. Neither one of us has ever been there, can you guys recommend a travel agent, or some sights that are 'must sees'. Thanks a million ! Also, do you think 8 days is enough?

Yeah I am also worried about losing time due to traveling. FH really wanted to go to Hawaii, but a 13 hour flight, the day after the wedding, was a no no for me. Do you have any idea how much an 8 day stay would run about?

probably close to $4000 or so pp for that amt of time due to euro vs dollar right now (that is flight, food, accommodations, sites, etc.) maybe a tour or cruise w/ air would be cheaper- I have seen those around $2500.

go to barnes and nobles and skim through rick steve's book. he has great tips on saving $ and good places to eat, it's like ur own personal tour guide! i went two years ago for 11 days and went to rome, venice, milan, and florence. if i did it over again, i would skip florence because i'm not into art. but 8 days is def. good. when i went two years ago, i spent right about 2500 including airfare, lodging, sites, food, and souvenirs (my friend and i are cheap!!)

I went a couple years ago and I would say my favorite places were Venice, Sorrento, Capri and Rome, I went on a Perillo tour and it was 2 weeks long. I dont think know if 8 days is enough. I would recommend doing a Mediterranean cruise. I think theres some that last for 7 days and you can see a bunch of beautiful places in Europe

Re: Anyone going to Italy for their HM?
We went for 10 days and spend $2,000 per person (I'm including the food costs)
Get the Rick Steve's guide to Italy and follow his advice for hotels, nightlife, what is a 'must see' and what day/time to see everything.
It was a fantastic trip, but we were so tired at the end!

We're thinking of going to Positano. I've been to Venice, Rome, Florence and Bologna. FH has never been there.

Re: Anyone going to Italy for their HM?
Honestly for the amount of money it's going to cost to fly there, you might want to try to stay for at least 2 weeks. Airfare to Italy is always on the rise, I think right now it's about $1500 per person (so figure $3000 alone in airfare) -- you can definitely see alot in 2 weeks but 8 days, especially with the time you lose travelling, will be kind of short. Then again, if you choose to see only 2 or 3 places you might be fine.
I love Italy -- I have family all over, IMO if I was to go there for a HM I would go to Sicily or Sardegna -- the islands are gorgeous! but Rome, Venice, Florence are just as beautiful.
Good Luck
