Anyone handprinting their invitations?

Anyone handprinting their invitations?

So I'm hearing over and over how lables are tacky, even clear ones. Besides having the addresses printed on, can you hand print them yourself if you have neat handwriting. I was thinking of calligraphy but it might take to long for them to get done..

I personally think a lable would like nicer than writing it in your regular handwriting. I wouldnt handwrite it.

I'm thinking of doing mine. Only trouble is that I have the worst handwriting most of the time and I mess up a LOT when I'm trying to be neat.....

I was thinking of learning calligraphy myself and doing them that way!!!

We had the names and addresses printed on the majority of our invites, but the addresses we got after we received the invites were handwritten. I had to concentrate very hard to write neatly.

Calligraphy is an art, it's really difficult just to learn, you have to practice A LOT to be any good at it... I did calligraphy in high school and I was decent, but I wouldn't dream of doing my own invites now, I haven't touched a pen in years..

I wouldn't handwrite them either, I agree with the poster who said labels are at least nicer than just handwriting, even neatly. If you have a good printer, you can always print directly on the envelope as well.

I am going to print directly on the envelops and then if for whatever reason that doesnt work its labels all the way

I have a Dell printer that loads from the top. Is there a special program I need to print envelopes?

I printed all the envelope addresses out in my printer... I have an HP laser printer and they came out perfect, just printed them from word.

However I would ONLY recommend doing this on a laser printer, my cousin DIY'ed invites and printed the envelopes and invites and everything on an inkjet printer and by the time they got to me and others in my family the ink was smeared all over the place.

true, and you also have to be careful with laser printers bc sometimes it almost 'chips off' of the paper. different papers give different results (as I'm sure different laser printers do too)

That's true. I used to practice calligraphy when I was younger and I wasn't really very good at it. My dad does it, but I just can't see him sitting there and doing all of that. my mom's... her boyfriend... her family...... also worried about the ink running, too if it rains or anything!!!

I think my printer is an ink jet. So I can't use it then? Can't pretty much any type of ink run?

I had to borrow a printer from a friend cuz the envelope was too thick to **** up in my printer. FM me if you want more info though!

LABELS ARE FINE!

I was so cranky!

I'm going to try to print onto the envelopes.

If I can't, then labels it is. Tacky is in the eye of the beholder, and if people are criticizing me because I printed their fkn address on a label, they can **** a big one.

it depends on the paper. I printed my eparty invite envelopes on the crappiest printer alive (an inkjet probably from the year printers were invented) and everything was fine.

Just make sure your paper is inkjet compatible. I'm planning on DIYing my wedding invites and found that paperandmore.com has inkjet compatible paper. I bought some samples and printed with my new inkjet printer and everything seems to be fine, but I haven't mailed anything out yet. I'd order some samples and do a test mailing to see if everything works out ok.

I had bought clear labels, but ended up printing from my computer. It was so easy, I did it in one night.
