God I can't stand them. Why do they always have to win??? To me I think a team like that cubs deserved to win the world series or Florida. These are teams that havent one in years and years. But the Yankees??? come the last time they won was in 2000. So they havent won in three years boo hoo cry me a river they only won four in row before from 1996-2000. I can't root for a team like that! It's boring to see them win all the time. And I can't stand Jeter and Soriano, I feel like throwing tomatoes at my TV whenever they are up. Well this distraught Mets Fan is voting for the Florida...So lets go Marlins!!!

Re: Anyone hate the Yankees as much as I do???
First of all it is not who deserves to win, its who is the best. Who ever can put there players in the right places at the right times for what is needed to win those games.
Don't get me wrong, I believe there are alot of great teams. I am not saying the Yankees are the best. What I am saying is that you need to work hard and want it bad enough.
The Yankees just happen to have alot of drive to win and the hard work too. It is not easy to go to the post season as much as they do. The pitchers put so much extra work on there arms compared to a regular season pitcher. I think Andy Petite actually has a year or two of extra pitching on his arm just from post season play.

Re: Anyone hate the Yankees as much as I do???
My FH is a diehard Yankee fan.. so I am quickly becoming one.
I think if a team wins, they win. End of story.
I like football better.. none of this best of 7 crap.. You either bring it, or you go home empty handed.
Being a Dallas Cowboy fan since I could walk hasn't been fun. People hated them in the 90's cause they were America's team in the previous decade and one two back to back. They've been terrible for the last 3 years and so now theyre coming back and people say 'I hate them cowboys'.
Whatever. I think if you play hard, get lucky and win, the losers will always whine. I also believe some teams lose to the Yankees because they already lost in their minds. Yankees believe they can win cause they have history of winning. Mind over matter.
I wish the Cubs had made it to the series. Boston got real close to make it themselves. The yankees earned it. It wasn't just walk in and go to the World Series. For once I think they should get credit for working their butts off.
It's sports. It's not rocket science, it's brute physical skill and endurance.
May the best team win
(hope its the Yankees, but even FH says he wont be too upset if they lose).

First off, if anyone has any valid opinions, they shouldn't feel they need to hide behind an alias - why not be confident in your opinion
Whatever, this is a BASEBALL team we're talking about! Let's try and keep things in perspective, shall we? Too much negativity in the world to begin with.....
1st - I love your pic!!!!! 2nd - I lived across the street from a guy from Philadelphia and every sunday in the fall he and my dad would yell back and forth about their specific team...

Re: Anyone hate the Yankees as much as I do???
This post is nuts. And some people on here get real nasty for no reason.
How come nobody, especially Mets fans, brought up how many times the Braves win? Is it because they don't win the world series? Does that make it ok? The Braves have gone to the playoffs for 12 years in a row. Is anyone tired of seeing them?
I for one am a die hard Yankee fan. If they cut me open I would bleed pinstripes. I have always been a huge fan of baseball and the Yankees. Would the Red Sox have won in 86 if the ball didn't roll through Bruckner's legs? Maybe. We'll never know. Met's fans, we let you borrow the curse of the Bambino that night. Let's not forget even after that error, the Mets still had to win Game 7, which they did.
Do I like the Mets, no. To be honest, I despise them. But I don't feel the need to bash them either. I let the players on all of the teams do all the talking for me. The only team in baseball that I hate is the Red Sox, and you really have to be a Yankee fan to understand that hatred. I don't care if the Mets fans hate the Yankees. But I am tired of hearing about it. To me there is no rivarly between the Yankees and the Mets. They play in different leagues and before the stupidity of inter-league play began, they never play each other unless they're going to the big show down. I can understand if you're a Ranger fan hating the Islanders, and vice versa. THey're in the same league. But why hate a team that up until a couple of years ago, you never have to play? I just don't understand it.
You can't deny the Yankees have the highest payroll in sports, but that doesn't mean they automatically win every year. The Angels, a team with a low payroll, knocked them out in the first round last year. There are plenty of teams in baseball that have huge payrolls and they can't win a division, the Mets being one of them. Then there are teams, like the Twins, that have a low payroll and yet still put up a great season. The Yankees don't win because of their payroll. Yeah it helps, but there's more to it and any true baseball fan would understand it if they put their hatred to the side and looked at it. They win because it's expected of them. In the history of the Yankees, upper management has always put a stress on the team to win. Nothing else is ever allowed. When the Yankees clinched the division this year, they ended the game as if it were a normal game. They lined up and did their hand shakes. You look at a team like the Twins or the Giants who celebrated as if they just won the world series. It's almost as if to those teams that was enough for them. To the Yankees it was just the first step towards their goal.
Met's fans take my advice, and I say this is a very nice way no matter how anyone may read it...Stop hating the Yankees and start hating the Braves. Turn your anger for the Yankees towards your true rivals and maybe you can help your team win the division. Yell and scream about upper management, they are the ones that blow it for your team every year. They never try to go out and do something that will help beat the Braves. Boo them when you're at the game. Voice your opinion over the airwaves. Let them know that you're tired of the Braves winning every year. There's really no reason to hate the Yankees as much as you do. Hate the teams in your division and then see how your team performs.
And please everyone, I understand how passionate you are about the sport. But there's no reason to get nasty to others. Voice your feelings without putting others down.

Re: Anyone hate the Yankees as much as I do???
The Yankees always have to win because they are the best team. Its not like the World Series is handed to them, they have to work hard just like every other team.
Also I think Yankee fans would still route for the Mets if they were in the Workd Series instead because you just want a New York team to win (as a New Yorker). Mets fans are not able to say the same thing because they are mad that the Mets aren't ever in it.
I am not saying this to be hurtful, I think its the truth.
Too funny! When I lived in Phila -- thats exactly what went on ! You could walk down the street on a Sunday and people would yell the scores out to you thru the window! It is so funny -- Talk about a serious sports city -=- Phila has been known to BOO Santa Claus!!! LOL

Re: Anyone hate the Yankees as much as I do???
I can't believe this thread is still going on - it really cracks me up. Everyone is entitled to an opinion - why can't a Met fan not root for the Yankees - why do Yankee fans want us anyway? who cares if a Mets fan roots for the Yanks? - just root for who you want to root for and keep it light and fun.
To me baseball is not about the state it is about the team. I have a love for baseball! I love my METS whether in first or last. I'd love 'em if they moved out of NY! Personally, I wanted I Red Sox/Cubs World Series - I thought that would be the best Series to watch - there is so much history there and so many great players - young and old - perfect. Well it didn't happen - now it is the Yanks vs the Marlins - and I am rooting for the Marlins! - GO FISH! (I must say DH is die-hard Yanks fan and I don't push it in his face but he knows and accepts why I don't root for the Yanks - to respect him I don't Go Fish in his face but he knows where I lie! but I am torn because as much as I want DH to be happy I don't want the Yanks to win! I told him about this thead and he thinks it is so silly). I am a National League Fan - every World Series I root for the National League - does that make me a bitter Mets fan - I don't think so!!!! also love to root for the underdog - being a Met fan I guess you are use to being the underdog!
Also, don't talk trash - is it worth it? I know my sport inside and out but never talk trash. But nothing is worse than people who talk trash and have no clue what they are saying. Also love your team whether they are good and bad..nothing in baseball angers me more than a fair weathered fan...baseball is cyclical..yanks may do well now but tides will turn eventually and everyone who is a Yanks fan now - I hope you will still be at your teams side. I know many of you will but I know many that will not.
Anyway, enjoy baseball and enjoy your team whoever it may be!!! Girls - just keep in fun because baseball is a fun sport!!!!!!
yabbo - A's are a great success story on a low budget - I like that team - they have some of the best young talent around!
bedda - I have to be with you with the tomatoes but only at jeter. For some reason, I can't stand his face!

It is not that Yankees fans want Mets fans, its that Mets fans are always crying about how much they hate the Yankees when Yankee fans don't really do the same thing.
A Met fan doesn't HAVE to root for the Yankees if they don't want to. I am just saying that it seems like Met fans can't just be happy that a New York team is in it. They have to complain about how much they hate the Yankees.

Re: Anyone hate the Yankees as much as I do???
Baseball is the all american passtime why is their a need to continue arguing over teams and who wins or looses. From April till October every team in the MLB strive to get to the World Series. Their are a total of 30 teams combined and only 2 teams can do it. Its very competitive.
Why be nasty of who makes it. Yea no one remembers who comes in second, be just making it to the World Series should be an honor all its own.
When I was little I loved the Mets, why because of Howard Johnson and Daryl Strawberry. A little girl that I knew was ill and with the make a wish foundation wanted to meet Daryl Strawberry. She not only met him, but also got to sit in the Mets dugout. I was in awe at how such a high profile person took the time to meet this sick little girl. Because of his actions was why I loved the Mets. They could have lost every game, but I was a fan of Daryl Strawberry.
Now to me baseball is not what it once was. It doesnt seem like the all american passtime that it once was.
Yes the Yankees made it, great for them. I was cheering and clapping because I know how its an honor to make it. Let the best team win and they did.
My parish goes nuts over the Yankees because Joe Torre's sister is a nun there. She is the principal of the school. When the Yankees go to the world series she tells the kids they dont have to wear their unifoms to school the whole time its going on. They get a giant t-shirt that all the kids can sign. They bleed pinstripes.
Its so fun to see the excitement on the kids faces, all of them wearing jerseys, rooting for the Yankees.
Isnt that what baseball is all about. Having fun. Having a beer, a soda, franks, burgers, peanuts and cracker jacks. Why does it have to lead to whose the better team. They are all good. My friend is in minor league and has been for 3 years. He works his butt off and he got injuried and now will never make it pass the minors. To just be in major league baseball is hard enough, why the need to put down everyone.
Baseball should be about the summer time, the BBQ's, laughing, joking and having fun. Their is no need to bash, insult, or hurt anyone over who makes it or not. They are all good in their own ways.

Re: Anyone hate the Yankees as much as I do???
Jenn524, now you are one fan I have a huge amount of respect for. That post was well thought out, intelligent, correct all the way down the line, and came from the heart of a true fan who knows the game and cares about it. And yes, I do hate the Braves, moreso than the Yankees, because as you said...this Mets/Yankees rivalry is total bull. We have MUCH more reason to dislike those hicks. LOL. The rivalry has been nothing more than a constant attempt by MLB to make money...period. Ever notice how many more interleague games the Mets/Yanks play vs. eachother than the other teams? Because it's money, plain and simple.
Thank you. Good luck to everyone.

This is the funniest thread!
DH (a METS Fan) says that the Yankees always win b/c they have the most money, which in turn brings on the best players. So, it's all about money and salaries!!

Amen, my sister!
And, I just want to say that my personal contributions (earlier in this silly thread) were definitely not hostile...I was conversing back and forth with Melissa about how I felt as a Met fan....
And Jenn524....I am LMAO at your advice to hate the Braves b/c even though I do HATE them (and that STUPID war cry/chant the fans do!) - I can't really hate them b/c my sweetie DH LOVES them! Imagine me, a diehard Mets fan living the rest of my life with the man I love who is a Braves fan What dumb luck, right?
