I think I'm going to buy FH a laptop for Christmas (since I can use it too!, I love those kinds of gifts
Does anyone have any recommendations? Is there any features I should look for? I'd like to keep the pricetag at most between $700-$800.
He said he only wants to use it for fantasy sports stuff, since I take up too much time on LIW!

I have a Gateway and FH has a Dell. I think they're both great. Mine is newer and a bit bigger with the 15.4' widescreen LCD type screen which is great for seeing the graphics.
I bought my Gateway from Best Buy on Black Friday 2005. You can try Best Buy or call Dell and tell them your budget and what you'll be using it for and they'll build one for you. Shipping is usually very quick too.

I have a dell inspiron e1505. I got it a few months ago and paid about $750 with shipping and a memory upgrade.

We have an IBM Think Pad, but thats not in the price range your looking for. I'd say Gateway or Dell. Good Luck, what a fantastic gift!!

the 0% interest on my credit card is what's buying the great gift lol!! otherwise I wouldn't get it for him, but he's the type that if he wants it he'll run out and get it on his own anyway.....so I might as well make it his gift.

I'd say don't get a dell. I've had 2 and the laptops really suck. Most of my friends in law school had them and all had problems. My current laptop is just 2 or 3 years old, I bought it for like 1200 and it really S U C K S now. I can't wait to get new one. Maybe next year.

Peter and I are Dell fans...and Peter is a computer geek..so next to his own built computers....he goes with Dell. Which says a lot coming from him.
I have a dell desktop and a dell inspiron and am very happy with them.

ok looks like Dell is a safe choice....I have a gateway desktop now, and although it hasn't really had problems in the 3 years I've had it (knock on wood!!) when I have called their customer service- they were a pain to deal with!!

Looooove HP. Fh is a computer nerd and he also loves Hp. We have 2 and they both work great. Plus if you buy the warranty it's no hassel to get anything fixed.

I love my Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop. I've had it for a couple of years and it's doing great!! Check them out. They are always having deals!! GL!

for what he wants to do id say a dell is great... they have crapola for customer service *its outsoruced but as long as he doesnt dl too much girlie stuff (and the viruses that come with it) there shoudl be no need to contact their customer service department
