anyone have a laptop they recommend?

when i was looking for my laptop, the guy at the store told me that hp is supposed to be pretty good but they have a bad reputation b/c their older desktops were bad. i personally went with a sony vaio and am in love with it (though my fh had a vaio desktop and it was crap). it was a little more expensive then your price range though, but you can customize them so they're less expensive.

the people at best buy and compusa were helpful when it came to real basic stuff, so if that's what you want i'd say go there. at the very least you'll get some info. i'd probably buy it online right from the manufactuer though. at least with the sony i got a better deal and a better warranty.
