Hi! I'm want to surprise my FH with an appearance of an Elvis impersonator at our wedding. I am so confused as to which one to use. There are 3 that I looked on their web sites but I would really rather use one that someone can recommend since I want to be good one and not cheesy.
TIA!

Re: Anyone Have an Elvis Impersonator Perform?
Honestly, I was at a wedding last year and they did and it was cheesy. It was a GORGEOUS wedding and everything was done so beautifully and then this strange guy came out in a white suit and I dont think the bride knew that it was going to happen. All of the guests were confused and he was there dancing around for at least 20-30 minutes and he kind of killed the party. That was the only instance I have seen an elvis impersonator outside of vegas and I am sure there are many more that will be much better then the one I saw (it was in NJ) so it can work and I'm sure it would be good, but this guy was just a little strange IMO.

Re: Anyone Have an Elvis Impersonator Perform?
See, that's what I'm afraid of. It is really going to be kind of a joke in that my FH just wanted to go to Vegas and get married 'by Elvis' rather than having this big wedding of which I told him we would disappoint so many of our family by doing that. He has come around and is just as excited about the wedding as me, but I wanted to surprise him.
I know there has to be someone who does Elvis in a not cheesy way. I don't mind spending the money I just don't want to be mortified by a bad performer.
Thanks !

Just make sure your FH and your guests would get it... You might need the band leader or MC to say that beforehand.
I think it's really hard (if not impossible) to find on that isn't cheesy... JMHO.
I wouldn't do it.

Re: Anyone Have an Elvis Impersonator Perform?
We had onoe come to my dad's 50th bday and he seriously did NOT look like Elis. He basically had dark and that was it. He looked like a stripper. At first we thought there was a mix up and he might taking his clothes. I would do as much research as possible if you decide to do this!!

Funny that you mention that. My brother is a HUGE Elvis fan has the whole outfit loves to do Karaoke and even wins the talent contests that he enters (Talent contests on cruises lol) He's actually really good at it. Got all the moves down, Elvis' sayings and has the lip lol. For my wedding he sang 'The wonder of you' (my parents wedding song) he didn't get dressed up (would've been too much lol) but he was a big hit everyone danced and loved it. For his engagement party he surprised his fiancee, got dressed up and sang to her. Yeah he's my brother but I gotta say He's really good.
I was just thinking I should Pimp him out LOL I could make some money off of him lol just kidding

i think it is really cute that you want to do that.. but i think it might kill the mood or flow of your wedding.
i was just thinking.. what if you had the impersonator come to your rehersal dinner. might be easier to explain and with the people who are much closer to you

At the catering hall I worked at, we had a Joe Pesci, Robert DeNiro, Justin Timberlake and Cher impersonators on different occasions. Cher was the best cuz it was really a guy!

Elvis who?
FH made me ask that- he's a HUGE Elvis fan.
He said he'd do it for you!!
Trust me, you don't want FH singing at your wedding! His Dad used to dress up in an Elvis suit and perform...wouldn't call him an impersonator though. I love FFIL, but I PRAY he does not do this at my wedding!! He went to pick up FH at the airport yeeeaars ago and waited there in an Elvis suit and sang along with a karaoke machine!
Yes, this is my FFILs
Like others have said, I wouldn't recommend it. Just play lots of Elvis at the reception! Have an Elvis medley or something- I might ask my DJ to do that.
