i don't know what it is about our exes (had a problem with mine at my eng party) but FH's ex was so psycotic ever since we started dating. it's a long story but she called him at weird hours of the night knowing i was there and had her friends call too and she'd write emails to him about how much she loves him and she even called his brother and a couple of his friends to try to get them to get FH to break up with me (when we were dating). then we get engaged and her mom (who was friends with FH's mom) flips out and screams at her, slamming on the dashboard of the car. anyway, that was in dec. i thought this was over - there is more to the story- but it's too long to get into.
anyway, FH got an email at his work account yesterday from her after all these months.
i need to vent so i'm attaching it - subject is 'overtures of reconciliation'
Oh, I know, if you're even reading this at all, you are cringing to hear from me, the enemy. I don't know how I came to bear that role, but so I have. In writing you, I am not trying to interfere with your new life. But our lives have been so intertwined that I find, even now, that I am haunted by the ending we found. I think you hate me because you feel guilty about things, and because J has such vehement lashings-out when I pop into the picture. What she doesn't understand is that I wasn't just some girl you dated. Or maybe she does understand it, and that's why she loathes me so. But you see, she overlapped my time. I never got to say goodbye, never got to grieve my loss of my friend. She staked claim before I should have been gone. It hurts me so to be discarded like that. After all, I loved you thoroughly. And you loved me. We will always be that boy and girl who discovered love together, no matter where we go from there. I'm not asking you for much. I just want a real goodbye. A face to face, a hug, a 'hey, I'm glad we had each other when we did.' It's too much to think that we could ever understand what went wrong with us. Maybe you know. Maybe you don't want to say. Maybe you don't, and it was just one of those things. Nitpicking all the trifles is futile and hurtful. I just can't stand the thought that I'm hated, by YOU. I don't know whether you think of me anymore, but we did have so much more good history than bad. I need to remember that. I wish you would. And you know, seeing me would probably be good for both of us. I want to end on a good note. I always was a happy ending girl. God, please look inside yourself and find that man that I loved, the one with the good heart, and help me find some closure.
-------
I dont know whether to laugh or cry! And we didn't start dating until a year after they broke up. He even dated someone else for a couple of months. He tried to remain friends with her since they were childhood friends but obviously it didn't work out.
I know he loves me and all of that - I am not questioning anything he did- he's more than wonderful. But this makes me so angry. Esp since she's blaming me!! I mean, they broke up 4 years ago!!!!! And they were so on and off- it was during college that they dated - and he saw other people (with her knowing this) at the time too. UGHHHHH!!!!!!!!
thanks for letting me vent

Re: anyone have issues w/ exes?? VERY VERY LONG
Wow your FH needs to put his foot down with this manipulative woman. That's just scary. I have an ex who is very similar and when his mother died two years ago, whom I was very close with, he used her funeral as a way to try to weasel his way back into my life. I made the mistake of feeling bad for him and talking to him again and he ended up harrassing me and threatening to kill my FH. I had to record phone conversations and keep answering machine messages and get the police involved, so I am not one for letting this situation with this girl go. If she does not stop after FH tells her to go away, then you need to take immediate action. I'm so sorry that this is happening, good luck!

I have ex issues...but not like this!! I confronted Fh's ex face to face, after sending a very clear message that if she did not stay away, I would go knock on her door and MAKE her stay away. But, that said - this woman is a psycho. she needs to be told in no uncertain terms that your FH is getting married, if 4 years of no contact isn't closure enough for her there's nothing that can be done for her. She needs a psychiatrist. She needs a new man (although who in their right mind would attach themselves to someone with such strong stalker tendencies?) And by the way, you have a great man there, who sends you the email but doesn't even look at it himself. At least you know he can be trusted!

Re: anyone have issues w/ exes?? VERY VERY LONG
I'm with clueless on this one. I wouldn't let FH respond back to her - it's only giving her more hope to cling onto that she has a speck of a chance - especially with such a whacked out title on her email. She's totally reaching at this point for any type of contact with him. She's completely insane to even suggest getting together with him. Uhhh....NO!
I would be the one to respond back. I would tell her that FH forwarded me the message and if she continues to harass either one of you, that you'll be looking into an order of protection because stalking in NY is ILLEGAL.
We all have had lost loves, broken hearts, etc. That does not give this chick the right to cause you stress at such an important time in your life . Personally she sounds psychotic. So does her freaked out mother.
I had a sort of similiar situation with DH. His ex-girlfriend was a classmate of mine (he went to a different school altogether). They dated for a little over a year. I met him for a half second at the senior prom. I didn't actually get to know him until 3 years later and at a totally random time from their relationship. I didn't even remember him/visa-versa. We bump into her from time to time at various places and she gives us these glaring looks, like she blames me for 'taking' her 1st love. Give me a break!
I wish you alot of luck sweetie, but in all honesty freaks like this will never go away until they're forced or get a life of their own and move on. To give into them is only fueling the fire.

This girl has issues. It seems to me that she still misses him. She should get over it already!

Sue, no one is saying it is. He can't control this headcase, but something CAN be done if she knows they'll be ramifications against future contact. Personally, I'd beat her a$$!

I would be furious at her too. It might aggravate her even more if you just ignore it like you don't care. He loves you and wants to marry you.He doesn't care about her and obviously its eating her up.

She sounds like a stalker. I agree that this email should be documented somehow. Does she know when you are getting married?
I'm sorry you're dealing with this aggravation.

Re: anyone have issues w/ exes?? VERY VERY LONG
I had an ex fiancee bother me for over 3 years, I finally called the police and made a report and also had my best friends husband who is an attorney write him a letter to leave me alone or I would take legal action, and he finally stopped. He was stalking me in my house calling both phone lines, e mailing me, and putting disgusting personals on line using my email address and impersenating me, etc. He is married to top it all off. I dumped him because he was getting psycho, and also becuase I caught him cheating on me online. He met his wife online, poor girl. I hope it all works out for u in the end.

Holy crapballs!! What a nut case!!! He should just file it away and forget about it. His life is with you now and it's so wonderful he's open and honest with you about this. The reason I think he should file it away is...you never know when you're going to need documentation of things!! It's the old 'CYA' syndrome. This girl sounds crazy. My heart goes out to you!!!

Head case. 4 years??? Tell your husband to send her a reply e-mail that reads
'IT'S BEEN 4 YEARS AND YOU ARE NO LONGER A PART OF MY LIFE. I DON'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE. GET OVER IT.'
That's closure, no?

Re: anyone have issues w/ exes?? VERY VERY LONG
I'm sorry to hear but undrestand... I have a psychotic ex of my own. He and I broke up almost 5 years ago and he still seeks me out. Even changed his whole career and got a job in the same school district as me and still claims that if my DH and I break up, he and I can get married!!!!!
Some people just don't get it and never move on. Unfortunately you are caught in the middle, even though he's (your DH) not seeking her out or entertaining her.
Best of luck! YOU have him and not her. Too bad for her.

This is so off the wall that it's funny!
SusanS - I like that
I have to say, I agree w/Shamee on this...an order of protection might be just the thing to get this psycho biatch to get over it and MOVE ON!
Good luck to you!

Re: anyone have issues w/ exes?? VERY VERY LONG
yea, as others have said definitely have him write a one-liner that says 'do not contact me anymore.' even just those 5 words would be fine. she's obviously highly delusional, and don't worry, she'll get what's comin to her ;-)

Re: anyone have issues w/ exes?? VERY VERY LONG
This girl is totally nuts! I know how you feel - DH was engaged before to a psycho. Long story short, when we started dating, she used to come to his work (where I worked too at the time), she beat him up, tried to run him off the road, we ended up filing an order of protection, three years later (yes, three!) she spray-painted his car, wouldn't take him off their joint-bank account, and, to top it all off, when she found out when we were getting married, she got married the same day to some other guy. Total freak. I feel for you! Good luck -

Re: anyone have issues w/ exes?? VERY VERY LONG
Funny little tidbit to add to this post, I was in the mall just before with JT, and low and behold, who do I see? YUP! The psycho ex I haven't heard from or seen in almost two years. I ducked and ran, JT thought I was nuts until I explained who I saw! EVERY time I talk about him or think about him randomly, I see him or hear about him from someone. WEIRD......

Re: anyone have issues w/ exes?? VERY VERY LONG
I know many will disagree with me on this, but maybe a very short email back telling her that he'd appreciate no further contact at this point - that he's sorry she feels this way, but he has moved on and is happy and he hopes she does the same - might help her with the closure she needs (as psychotic as she seems). Then he and you know you did everything to try and get this girl to take the chill pill she so desperately needs. It can't hurt, and it protects him if anything should happen in the future, because he can say that he asked her to stop and she didn't. I definitely agree it should be filed somewhere...
