AAHHHHHH!!!! I'm getting so discouraged, because just by seeing Douglaston Manor (after the renovations they completed in April)...I fell in love with it!! But I'm reading bad reviews on here and it's scary!!
Some of the other places I've considered so far....
Sans Souci- Sea Cliff (fiance thinks it's too small, we're probably having around 160 people)
Metropolitan- Glen Cove (ditto- he thinks its too small, but we went for a tasting there...and the food was amazing!, I loved the decor)
Stewart Manor- loved the decor of the place (I liked the exposed wood beams) and they give you a great price....but I was concerned that if there's bad weather and we had the CH all indoors, it might be a little bit crowded...also didn't really care for the bridal suite
Larkfield Manor- I absolutely loved this place!!! The owners are very nice & accomodating, but my fiance doesn' t know if he wants to do Suffolk, since we're Queens folk!!
I'm going to check out Stuart Thomas Manor also- they have good prices.
I'm trying to keep my price at $85pp or under for a Saturday night in September/October. Anyone have suggestions??
Thanks!!! Helen

LaGrange Inn is under $85, and the place is beautiful. All redone and every time I go in, they have renovated something else.

I would check out the Riviera in Massapeuqa. It is beautiful-right on the water, prices are great, and it is family owned-they were so nice to us. I would recommend The Old Field Club but it is more than $85 pp. (But it is our favorite).

Thank you for all the suggestions- I really appreciate them.....just so everyone knows, here's the prices I've received:
Westbury Manor: $95 for a Friday evening
Woodbury CC: wouldn't give me exact price over the phone- but said Friday to Saturday is a $25 difference, and Saturdays are over $100pp
Fox Hollow- I was told Friday is under $80 and Saturday is under $100- plus I'm in a bridal party there next year, not sure if I want to do the same place!!
Roslyn Claremont- got the BM's voicemail- but weddingsitesandservices.com has their price range as $80-150 pp so I'm sure for September they'd probably be on the high end of the price range! It does look gorgeous though.....
Chateau La Mer- Saturday $110pp- love that its right on the water
George Washington Manor- Saturday $90-115pp depending on the package- it looks beautiful!!
I think I'm going to go back to Swan Club since I was only there for a bridal expo and it was before I was engaged....so once I'm there maybe they will be more open to negotiating!!
*These are all based on peak season pricing.
Thanks!!! Helen
I am biased for the George Washington manor since this is my hall. It is cheaper for me since I have a smaller room but their max is 150 people.

Jericho Terrace is gorgeous !!! (but I'm biased) You could probably get them for $85-$90pp if you're a good negotiator and book early enough. I booked a year and a half in advance so if you want to check them out, i suggest you do it soon. They only do 2 weddings at a time. I was in the skylight room and it was spectacular!!!

Woodbury CC is 125 pp (plus tax and gratuity) for a Saturday night in Oct. '07. For Saturday in Nov '07 you're looking at 105 pp (plus tax and grat). HTH...

I'm getting married at George Washington...its gorgeous and the food is great but since you're having 160 people its too small for your wedding...the room maxes out at 150...and that's without a dance floor
why don't you bring up the concerns that you found on here with Douglaston Manor and see what they say?

Try the Riviera in Massapequa. My wedding was there - they were AMAZING, and my sat. night wedding in January was significantly less than 85 pp. It is one wedding at a time, the place is beautiful and the staff is amazing. I planned my wedding from Seattle and they were SO helpful.

I don't know for sure, but I've heard that the Floral Terrace and Bridgeview Yacht Club are reasonable so maybe you should check them out. I've also heard that the Sands in Lido Beach is reasonable. Again, don't know for sure but it's worth a shot! What about SandCastle?

Def. jerico terrace! they charge $75-95 depending on what night. i paid $85 for a sunday nioght- and you can it for $75 if you get the wedding menu instead of the delux menu delux menu gives your guests 6 entree choices and the wedding menu gives your guests three... not bad!!

Thanks for the suggestions! Sand Castle is out since I had my prom there, and considering I have pics of me & my ex there, I just don't want to mix memories!!

You got a pretty good price! They quoted us $105pp, and that was for the smaller room- which for us, we don't have enough to guarantee the bigger room (with the dome skylight, I think they need 200), but since we're having 150-160, I felt like the other room they offered us would be a little tight! But thanks for the info!!

Try Chateau La Mer...they only do one wedding at a time & we are paying $65pp + an additional $10pp for the Vieniesse Hour....the place is absolutely gorgeous and since you're getting married in September/October you can have the option of the yacht arrival for you and your fiancee. We are not able to have the yacht arrival b/c they only do it May-October...FM me if you need more details...Good Luck
i would def say CLM but I know for a fact they do more than 1 wedding they may tell u that u are the only wedding and upstairs or downstairs is a sweet 16 or a different affair
my day there was another wedding upstairs. But Nobody even knew it was taking place. They did an awesome job I felt like I was the only bride

Thanks!!! I checked with Swan Club- they are $90 pp for a Saturday night, which isn't so bad, but I was nervous about them having up to 3 weddings at a time.
Keep em coming!!!
Up to 3 weddings...doesn't mean that they definetely will and they are staggered..we had our reception there and we got lucky there were NO other weddings that night
And its an awesome place...people are still raving about it.
Also have you looked at the Fox Hollow?
