Anyone having cakes made to match their dress??

I think I want to do this-- I think it's kinda cool and a great way to tie the whole wedding look together...

Anyone else doing this, and does anyone have any pics?? Need to start building a file.

Thanks-- I actually found a bakery in Chicago that has a Reem Acra cake- doesn't match my dress, but I thought I could use it as a baseline..

Would love to see more though!!

ETA: Reem Acra Cake; Pic of my dress (which will not be pink)..

I remember on theknot.com, someone named Litosbride had the Oleg Cassini gown from David's bridal, with the colorful floral embroidery, and she had her cake made to match that. It was SO pretty!

Didn't I just see pics of Joey Fatone's wedding in the 'rags' and their cake was a replica of the bride's dress??!!!! It was dress shaped ... very strange if you ask me!

Yeah-- that's taking it a little a TOO far- I just want want the patterns to match..

Ok-- I made it up... well, rather remembered incorrectly.

It is St. Louis..

That is a really cool idea. Too late for me though. My cake is already decided. (Not that I don't love my cake BTW)

I'll keep my eye out in my bridal mags for something that might go with your dress or have some similarities.

What bakery are you going to use for your cake? Maybe they've done something like this before.

The Carltun provides us with a cake- I don't know what bakery they use.. My BM just told me to gather pics-- I should probably find out.

I really like the idea of doing this- especially cause you are basically having the cake custom made for you. I saw one on ModernBride.com- but the cake was like 5 feet tall- so it is not a real representation of what I am trying to do- something like the cake I posted, but matching my dress.

I can see possibly pulling out the flower pattern maybe on a layer and then the scoll on a separate layer.

I would def need to work with the bakery on the design-- I hope it is possible.

If not, I'll probably just do something plain and sleek.

But I want to see pics of people who did this!!

Here are a couple of cakes from my hard drive to start your collection. I don't know if they will help, but maybe they will spark some ideas.

(#2 is the closest cake I can find on-line to mine. Every layer on my cake is a different shape. And it has our monogram on it.)

I am really starting to visualize what you are talking about. I wish I had a scanner. There are some cakes in Grace Ormonde Marriage that I would like to show you.

Do you know any artists? Because then s/he could help you come up with a visual for your hall. You're much more likely to get what you want that way.

I chose one of the cakes that FF's bakery (Audreys) had in their book. They would have done pretty much anything I wanted (for a $). I decided that their cake had all the elements that I had been admiring in the mags.
