It looks like my FI and I are going to be renting for a couple of years. House prices are crazy. Anyone else having problems? I'm looking for homes in the Greenlawn, Huntington, Norhtport area. If anyone knows someone selling their house let me know.

I am so glad FI and I are on the same page about getting out of NY. No long island, upstate, out of NY. We bought our land last year and hopefully if things go the way we have it planned <> this time next year our house will be being built and by the summer we'll be down in FL. Wedding is Sept 18, 2004 and we both hope to be living in FL BEFORE the wedding.
We're both quite eager to get out of NY

FH is a city cop and it is a rule that they have to live in either the 5 boroughs, Long Island, Rockland, Orange, Westchester or Putnam County. Not very cost effective places to live.

I would love to move to Florida but FH has his own business here and it would be difficult to start all over. We started looking a few months back in Smithtown, Nesconset, Hauppauge, Commack, Kings Park and East northport. The prices for decent starter homes start around $370, and these are 2 and 3 bedroom ranches, it's just crazy!!!

Chip good luck, thats great.
Paul works up north and his company is based out of CT so it will be great if we worked our way up north.
Im kind of sad though, my friends all live in Merrick or Wantagh and we kind of figured thats where we would move, but there is just no way.
I would jsut have to find a new job but change is good.
