Anyone know about Babylon?

I think I want to buy a house there considering its distance and reputation, any inside scoop or know of any houses for sale in the area?

Karen are you in the village? I have heard nothing but great things about the village but I am unsure about west babylon. I grew up in farmingdale and I love the school spirit that babylonians always had, the type of town I think i would enjoy. i am going to look this weekend.

I'm in West Babylon and its pretty nice. Babylon has more of the small town / hometown kinda feel but it is VERY expensive to buy a home there.

I lived in the village in an apt above the florist (used to be) on the corner of Grove and Deer Park Ave. I absolutely loved it. When I was finally able to buy a house, I quickly realized a single woman earning under a hundred thou could not afford one there. I bought in Lindenhurst down by the water which I love, but my next trade up will definitely be there. Best of luck, it is a really nice town. Prettiest one on the south shore.

Tara - I live right in the village - about two blocks from Main street. Babylon can be extremely expensive - especially south of Montauk Highway. If you guys are handy and can find a good fixer-upper, the prices become much more reasonable.

W. Babylon has most of the benefits of Babylon, but at a much more reasonable price. I grew up in WB (class of 91) and my parents still live there.

Welcome to the neighborhood (hopefully). My FH and I live in N Babylon and it is great. I would love to continue to live in the area, but as some of the girls have said it can be pretty pricey. You may want to look into if there are any foreclosures in the area. I know someone who got a GREAT deal by going this route.

I grew up in West Babylon. Babylon can be a very nice place to live. Great train line too. Nice shops, a pretty park. Close to the beach and close to the hospital.

FH and I are seriously considering West Islip - he says a lot of cops there (a big criteria in our hunt) and that they rave about it. I am having my reception at John Anthony's so I LOVE the area.
