anyone know anything about gardening?

anyone know anything about gardening?

I want to attempt to plant some flowers this year, but I'm not exactly sure where to start. We have these annoying tiger lillies that I want to get rid of, so I know I need to dig them up, as well as any weeds. But then what? I bought seeds from Target; they're for mixed annuals- tall zinias, tall marigolds, cosmos, celosia plumosa, gloriosa daisy, cornflower and tall astors. So after I clear the area do I just plant the seeds, or do I have to do anything to prepare to soil?
Any help would be appreciated.

Starting from seed is the hardest. You also don;t get that instant gratify garden.... I would recomend buying actual annuals that are in cell packs. Tiger lilies are tough to get rid of. So don't be surprised if you still see them from time to time. The best thing to do is to rotill the soil and make sure it has the proper nutrients... What is the sun like? Soil drainage? I love to gerden it is so relaxing, so any questions ask away.....

Seeing as you already have the seeds, plant them with lots of peat moss and miracle gro to give them a fair shot at surviving (they really are hard to grow from seeds). Make sure you're planting them in adequate sun (directions should be on label). Water according to the requirements for each type of plant.

Good luck!

When I plant from seeds, I plant them in a planter first, and in direct sunlight, you have a better chance of monitoring them like that or otherwise when their little sprouts grow, the animals screw them up by eating them.

Your best bet is to keep the planter if you can, in direct sunlight in your house, and once they get hardy enough, you can pull them out each as a whole and replant them outside in the dirt.

I'll ask my SIL. She has an amazing lavendar bush at her house.
