I want to start tutoring and I'm not sure how to go about it. Maybe I should make a flyer? What about the penny saver or newsday?

I almost tutored with Kaplan, but then decided against it. It wasn't too much--I think $20/hour with a masters, less with only a bachelor degree. For them I think your SATs needed to be over 1400 for SAT tutoring.

I went on an interview w/huntington learning center and I think it was $10-12 an hour. It totally wasn't worth it for me. Also I went on a crazy bunch of interviews for SCORE, don't put yourself through that, its totally insane.

Whn I worked at HLC 4 years ago it was $9 or $10 an hour - I doubt if it is much more than that now...completely ridiculous considering how much they charge people to go there!!!

I work for Kaplan and we pay $20/hr starting for tutors. It doesn't matter if you have your masters or not. You don't need a background in education to teach for us, just high test scores and a great personality.

DH tried this too, way too much work for the $$ they want to pay you! ($ 10-$ 12 per hour.) Try the school districts. HTH

i worked there for a month.. what they charge is ridiculous and what they poaid me is ridicuolus $10 an hour an dI had my masters. Plus i didnt believe in their philospohy on helping students. it was boring and a waste of $$ and time IMO

I worked on and off for Kaplan for 5 years. it's a great company to work for.
