Anyone mix China Patterns?
The magazines say this is hip and modern, but does anyone actually do it?

Re: Anyone mix China Patterns?
I am doing it.But, they are both Lenox and they match very well.
Most of the set will be Lenox Federal Platinum and the salad dishes, soup bowls and some of the accents will be Opal Innocence.
I'll try to post some pictures.
I know someone else that mixed and matched different brands and it looked great also.
What are you thinking of mixing?

Don't know yet, just haven't found one perfect set and I'm thinking this might be an answer.

I really liked the set you posted the other day - kind of a beige color...

Re: Anyone mix China Patterns?
Yes, we did, but more for an accent plate and for the chargers. We have the main china pattern (Robert Haviland) then added an additional salad plate (Faberge) as an accent plate and then our chargers are Christofle. I'll see if I can find pictures online.ETA:
Here is our main pattern (it's has both silver and gold in the design):
We added a salad plate from this pattern (the color is a colbalt blue with gold stars in the pattern):
I can't find the picture of the chargers, but they have a gold thick band that is in a small criss cross pattern. It picks up the gold in the main china pattern.

Re: Anyone mix China Patterns?
we mixed for our formal china - accent plates and cups and saucers from a separate collection than the rest...but both collections are from Lenox so I cuold be reasonably confortable in matching base colors...our every day china is fiestaware, all the same styles but in an assortment of wacky colors

Re: Anyone mix China Patterns?
We're mixing as well. Our formal china (1st pic) can actually be used informally too (so Fortunoff says!)...so when we do, we're mixing them with simple white dishes from Crate & Barrel (2nd pic).LOL - not really mixing it up too much, now that I look at everything, I guess. We'll probably mix things up more with the informal dishes by buying accent plates. I really love the stuff C & B has.

Re: Anyone mix China Patterns?
JuneBride44, they compliment each other very nicely.I couldn't never done this, because I have to have everything matching...that's just me. I would have like to get the Accent place to my setting (Lenox, Opal Innocence), but it was the same pattern as the rest of the set - no 'Accent' - LOL

Re: Anyone mix China Patterns?
we did this, but they were coordinating Lenox patterns (provincial sky and blossom).. so it wasn't all that crazy :)i think it can look really neat. As long as you like the look of it, you're the ones that have to eat off of it :) have fun!

Re: Anyone mix China Patterns?
i like that idea... you could have two patterns and alternate them at the table...i just bought a service for 4 of one pattern i like, im receiving a passed down service for 12, and i bought a basic pattern of service for 12 (since there are like 20 people in his family) so mine is very mixed!
growing up for our every day dishes we always seemed to buy service for 1 at different times, so each plate was a different pattern, and i loved it
