Anyone moving out of state after the wedding?

FH and I are thinking about it. If you plan on getting out of NY where are you going to go?

we haven't really talked about it, but FSIL and her hubby went down to NC and had a really hard time. she went to massage therapy school but her husband couldn't find a job anywhere that paid any decent amount of money so they are actually moving back up to the area to get a job. just something to be aware of in NC.

Already relocated to PA and am loving it! We'll definitely move back when we have children, even though we love it down here.

we're hoping to move to FL. it's just too expensive to live here and we are both sick of the cold.
we would both have more job opportunities there- but we still don't know how we are going to do it. we aren't sure if we are gonna try to go down just before the wedding to look at apts, or use HM time to go look. we want to have someplace to go after the wedding, but we just don't know how we are going to do it.

On the mainline, right outside of Philly.

We just bought a house in EI, so were in for the long haul. FH moved here for me. He works in CT but neither of us had any desire to live there.

we've talked about PA or NC or even Cali...
But as expensive as it is here, it wouldnt be feasible for us to go anywhere right now.

And anyway now we've been talking about somehow trying to get a house here...eventually...

I'd like to leave, but we won't. I just watch HGTV too much and see how we could live like kings elsewhere. instead of paupers here. Oh well...it's a good thing I like chickpeas, because something tells me I'm going to be eating a lot of them.

No offense to anyone who lives in PA or wants to live there. But all my college friends are from PA, I went to college in PA and I have been all over. Now its nice there and all, but I think New Yorkers would be miserable, like fish out of water, especially if you go deep into PA where its cheaper. I mean just look at weddings alone. I went to a wedding where people were in jeans. Another was more fancy, people wore sundresses. Its a WHOLE different world. I am not saying its not nice, its just VERY different. I couldn't do it. The Lehigh Valley is nice though, I liked going to college there.

I moved to Oregon 5 years ago. Love it here! It is such a lifestyle change from NY (in a good way). Houses are affordable (even though I don't have one yet), its absolutely gorgeous, people are friendly and the pace of life is so much more laid back. It is SO far from NY though, the only bad thing is getting back to visit the family. But if you are looking for the complete opposite of NY, this is it

I love Long Island (can't beat the summers) ... but I would love to live down south a bit.... like Annapolis, MD or even as far as Charleston, SC. I'd just like to experience it. I don't think FH and I would ever do it though, we have all of our family here. I would love to live in Northern Cali at some point but that's probably never going to happen!

I can totally relate to what you are saying. we went to a wedding in PA- the food was ok, but it looked horrible. chicken marsala was a fried chicken patty with some mushroom sauce over it! the bride was telling us how she had a hard time finding a RH that would serve the cake. most places there cut it up, throw it in paper baggies (without wrapping it up) and give it to the guests to take on the way out. It's kinda weird there.
