Anyone not doing bridesmaids??

Anyone not doing bridesmaids??

Hi - Is anyone not doing bridesmaids?? I was thinking of just having my sister as my MOH. So many of my friends have been in a gazillion weddings and I don't want them to have to spend more money on a dress. I guess it will also save me $$ on flowers and gifts. But, I do want my close friends to play a special role in the ceremony or wedding somehow. Other than a reading, any ideas??

I wish I would have thought about the cost implications of it before getting so many. If I had to do it all over again I would save money and only have one or two.

If I hadn't asked everyone already, I'd probably just have a MOH.

Aside from doing readings, you can have other special people bring up the gifts if you are having a Christian ceremony, you can have them hand out programs, hand out cry packs, rose petals, etc.

I am only having my sister as my MOH. Besides saving a lot of money, it's also been a lot easier planning things. I allowed her to pick her dress, and we only had to go to one bridal salon to try on dresses. We shopped once and it was done! I was also able to get my MOH a nicer gift since I didn't have a lot of girls to buy for.

My mom and my sisters will all be planning my bridal shower, so my MOH wont be stuck doing everything on her own.

As for doing something special for your friends, you can always organize a 'friends brunch' with all your close girlfriends and thank them for being there for you, kind of like a bridesmaids luncheon.

I'M ONLY HAVING A MOH AND A BM (MY BROTHER IS THE BM AND HIS SISTER IS THE MOH). DEFINATELY CUTS DOWN ON $$$ AND MOST IMPORTANT ...NO BP STRESS!!!

I'm just having a MOH also. I really wanted a simple wedding and didn't see the need.

i am having a MOH only as well. i wanted a small simple wedding and i also wanted the bridal party to be only family. not that i am not close with my friends, but what happens 20 years down the road when you have lost touch with them? i would have asked cousins as well, but i have like 20 cousins and i am not that close with them.

it is a personal choice, really.

I only had a MOH and one Bridesmaid. My MOH was my Cousin/Godmother and my Bridesmaid was my SIL. It worked out perfect. We kept our BP small and limited it to only family. The only non-family member we had was a good friend of mine and he was a Groomsman.

I am only having a MOH and Best Man....It would just cause too much drama to have bm's....

I am not having any bridesmaids either.

I thought about having my closest friends with me while I get ready... also you could have them do a reading at the ceremony. Write a special thank you in a wedding program. Seat them at a special table, close to you.
